What do you want out of a reception?

I want a party with shirtless fat drunk men dancing, people on the tables making toasts and taking shots. Formal us sooooo not us.

Bridget lol! We're having a party with lots of dancing and limited alcohol, only because our kids will be there 4 hours of partying!

I want awesome food, music, dancing and drunken "I love yous"

but... i have been to non alcoholic no dancing weddings and in that case there no reason it has to be boring great food entertainment and trivia is always fun and in between have slide show of pics and music great convo starters so if you keep it interesting guest on their toes with things not expected i feel youll b fine

I want people to mingle. Some will get to know each other. Others will reconnect after not seeing each other for awhile. They can dance and talk and have fun. For me, the wedding is bringing the families together. What better way to bring them together than over good food and music? If they want entertainment, they can go to a performance. We are doing stations with full seating. But we will have cocktail tables so people can stand around and chat too.

I want decent food with choices and a fun atmosphere. That's it. I don't mind if it's not an open bar or whatnot though I always feel like soda or tea and lemonade should be free.

And cake, please please please, give me a slice of that wedding cake!

I want really good food, access to free unlimited wine and to dance my hiney off.

ETA: That is my ideal. However, I'm a big proponent of couples hosting what they want and they can afford. As long as no one's being rude to their guests - which you are not by ANY means, I'm cool. I can eat and hang out with my pals.

Sit me with my friends, and I'm set for the night. I feel wedding receptions are a great place for people to catch up and relax. Alcohol isn't a must for me, since I don't drink that much anyway. Give me a delicious lemonade, and I'm good don't worry about entertaining your guests. They know how to survive at a social function just fine without mad libs or couple trivia. Though those things sound like fun too if you do want to have them

The reception we're having is exactly what I would want.

4.5 hours of open bar

an awesome band to dance to

family and friends in attendance

awesome but casual food (venue has a wood burning pizza oven and pizza is a part of our menu)

semi formal dress code

seating and bar outside in case you want a break from dancing/loud music

an afterparty to follow with transportation provided so you can drink and not worry about it.

I want good food and music!

I am so afraid that my guests will just sit there and not dance. I hope everyone dances!

Casual reception, lots of wine, good food, a good cover band, outdoors, a nice area to lounge and talk

We had a fantastic time.. Great music and dancing, good food, drinks, played a game with dj, mingled with everyone.. Over all it was fun!
