Hey date twin! I'd definitely say updo, since it could be hot. My hairdresser reassured me that slightly past shoulder is fine for an updo, since they can add "donuts" for volume. Something soft & sideswept could be pretty, to contrast the symmetry of the halter. Maybe something like this?
