Veil vs. hair combs ... more voting pls

I think the hair combs are great. Or a simple flower. Veils are not for everybody. The hair come with a great hair style could compliment each other.

I like veils... classic

I like both. But I felt like the veil really made me feel like a bride. I only wore it for the ceremony though. I wish i would have had a great comb or flower for the reception.

Depending on budget and whats important to you. like jessica said veils are not for everyone but i personally agree with mellojean.

Depending on your budget, you can do both. I didn't want a veil either, but it really tied the entire dress together. I'm happy I did both, but do whatever represents your style.

I really like veils...I just don't feel like a bride without one. I'm actually planning on making my own--- because there is just no way I'm spending 200 on something I'll wear for about a half hour max. I found some really easy patterns that just involve hand sewing so I think I'm going to tackle it.

I'm going to do what mellojean said-- I plan on having some kind of comb or flower for the reception because I would just like to have something in my hair.

I am doing a birdcage veil with a nice flower piece. I might use my moms veil and buy a hair piece.

I know veils are not for everyone, but I agree with mellojean. The veil is kind of what makes you feel like a bride, and it's the only chance you'll ever get to wear one for the rest of your life!

I bet you can use the veil during the wedding ceremony then you can use your hair comb at the reception so you will not be bothered by your veil during the picture taking and eating.

I agree with the other ladies - you can do a veil for the ceremony and hair comb for the reception if you want. Personally, I am just going with a hair comb but I am doing a short dress and having a very modern, untraditional wedding. Here's my comb:

I am doing both. My hair will be in a french twist with the comb on the side and my veil will be underneith.

I am doing both. I am going to wear a veil at the ceremony, then for the reception I am switching out for a comb.

I have a hair piece that was given to me by FSIL, and I had originally thought to only use that based on the fact that my dress has a lace jacket. I thought that a veil would be competing with the jacket and I didn't want to lose the look of the jacket because of the veil. But after seeing all the gorgeous birdcage veils, I decided to craft one using the hair piece. It looks cute (IMHO), and FS knows only that I have the hair piece from his sister, so the birdcage will be a surprise.

I dont neccessary like hair combs.. i like tiaras and veils..

I'm not wearing a viel. I have a head piece that is similar to a headband that goes around my curls. I don't see the point in the veil when I don't personally like them, my FS doesn't like them and they are really expensive for almost nothing. So I vote combe!!!

You can use a hair comb AND a veil, and then remove the veil after the ceremony and just live the hair comb. Or, you can use a side flower: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product442.html. Or, a super-fancy one: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product372.html

Or, you can use a cage veil, and take it off and just leave the flower: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product370.html. So as you can see, there are options. Most brides remove veil after the ceremony to leave a sparkling hair comb or a flower with sparkly crystals in their hair. But if you really dislike the idea of a veil, you can simply forgo it!Good luck!

Thanks ladies, I don't really want to do both I was just thinking about using the hair comb instead of the veil but I do think that the veil is important. I think tierras are pretty but they are not for me; I guess I should just try both with the dress and see how it looks.

Also, something to consider when decided veil or comb is whether your venue is inside or outside. I've heard stories of outdoor wedding where the veil just doesn't want to cooperate! I can see what the ladies above are saying about really feeling like a "bride" by wearing one though. Good luck! Either way you will be beautiful!
