Too many bridesmaids, few groomsmen?

Ally, on April 1, 2019 at 11:54 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 14
So I have my list of 8 ladies that I would love to be a part of my bridal party. I have 4 sisters and one sister to be, 2 friends and 1 cousin and I want all of them to be by my side. However my FH will only have 6 groomsmen. I really don't want to cut my party but i wonder how bad and uneven it will look. My FH is telling me not to stress but its all I can focus on. So I need input. My MIL suggested having my younger sister and my cousin as junior bridesmaids and I like that idea but i have no idea how to do the processional and who walks with who and if it would look bad.
I don't even know if there is a question in there but i just need help.

We have two grooms women 4 BM, the photographers can make it work. Your wedding party should be your nearest and dearest,

Uneven wedding parties are more common now and look more natural because it is unlikely you both have the exact same number of close friends and/or family. I had my 3 dearest friends and he had his brother. It was no big deal. As for the processional, the bridesmaids walked down the aisle alone and the guys walked in from the side. Then after the ceremony they just paired up to walk down the aisle.

True thank you. When leaving would the last two BM walk together?

That's what mine did as you can see in my last pic. Honestly no one really pays attention except us brides who worry about these details. Smiley winking

I see more weddings with uneven bridal parties. Our wedding will be unevenly numbered as well. As of now, I have 5 bridesmaids and my fiance has four groomsmen. I plan to have everyone walk down the aisle individually.

I honestly had to do a double take when I read "he had his brother" because I saw two guys dressed similarly plus a bride as a center of focus in the middle and thought it was two groomsmen - ha!

The OCD in me always want an even number, but it's completely unnecessary I think the photos look just as beautiful whether or not the sides are even.

If you're dead set on a traditional processional and an even bridal party, I think the Junior Bridesmaids is a great idea, so long as it wouldn't break the hearts of your little sis and cousin. But to be honest, I don't think it would be too distracting, especially since you both have large parties next to you. Two more on your end isn't really going to throw anyone off. Smiley smile

I don't think 8 and 6 is a big deal, or even noticeable. I was in a wedding with 6 BM and 4 GM, no one noticed including me! We have 10 GM and 9 BM.

My fiance and I decided that we don't want to pull friends into our bridal party just to have even numbers. I think we will likely be 7 guys, and 8 (or 9) ladies, and it was something I originally was stressed about, but the stress was coming from my mom, not really something I care too much about.

You definitely don't need even sides! We happen to 5 and 5, but that is coincidence and my FH was actually going to have an additional groomsmen but he had to step down because he can't make it to the wedding anymore. When we were planning on 5 and 6, I figured the last bridesmaid walking down would have a groomsman on each side of her.

It won't look bad at all. Guys are more broad shouldered so it always looks like there are more guys if its even, so for you it might look more balanced. I had 7 bridesmaids and 2 junior bridesmaids, my husband had 6 groomsmen and 2 junior groomsmen. For the processional the guys entered first with the officiant, some of them ushered the moms and grandparents then the girls walked in single file. For the recessional and entering the reception everyone walked in pairs one guy had 2 girls to walk with. It was cute!
