To use Real China...OR NO?!?!

That'll Be Mrs Small 2 U, on February 7, 2017 at 8:12 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 25

Anyone not using real china for their reception? I found a website that has really great quality and affordable plastic and wondered what some of you were doing.....

There is an in-between there, it's not just super expensive China or super cheap plastic. Do NOT use plastic, that's tacky. If China is too expensive, some standard stoneware and glassware is fine.

Agree with Van Pear. It doesn't have to be one polar opposite or the other.

I think it depends on the setting.

I also think it depends on the setting. If it's a fancy event, probably pass on the disposables plates. Also, be sure your caterer still includes a server if you use disposables. This was a dilemma we had when we wanted to use disposables. There would be no server to clear tables & people would have to throw their own plates out. Which wasn't okay with us.

I'll be using disposables, probably plastic. Ours won't be a fancy affair, but I didn't want paper plates. I only draw the line at plastic wine glasses...I just find them a little too cheesy.

    What website are you using?

I did some searching for this and ended up just renting. Nice disposable plates are about $1.20 for a full dinner and cake setting. Rentals were $1.80 for the same but real and linen napkins so it was an easy decision to pay the extra .60 for my 100 guest

We are using high end disposables. They have a pretty design and are almost clear in color. The utensils look real until you pick them up and even have the same design on the handles. We have buffet stations so we didn't mind using a disposable. It cut costs for the number of servers and dishwashers too.

I did fake. I had chargers and the silverware on top of them and they just grabbed plates to eat on at the buffet. I got mine at smarty had a party.

Following! Because I've been trying to figured out myself of what to do. Our reception isn't formal. We're having a Rustic Barn and Pork Roast, potatoes, rolls, salad etc... Buffet! Our Cater offer disposable one and to be honest I don't even know what it look likes and I'm concern if it's strong enough specially for the utensil because they seem to break easy in some. I was looking into renting a China one but FH is concern that we don't have anyone to clean up, washed etc. Smiley sad

We are using fancy disposables. It's a barn venue and a buffet meal, so no need for anything formal!

I'm using heavy disposables. It was recommended by caterer and of coordinator. I went through webstaurant. I had it all in my cart for weeks until I got a good coupon and bought it all.
