This may sound silly...or it may help brides who are using table runners!

Laura, on August 6, 2010 at 1:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Ok so my mom, the perfectionist, was trying to figure out how to get the table runners to the reception hall without having them wrinkle and without having to iron them there. So here is her idea, and I thought that it might help someone else. She got a noodle, like the kind you use in a swimming pool. She is then going to cut it the length of a hanger. Then, she is going to put a slice through the top of it and set a hanger through the holes. The table runners will then be able to hang on the hanger with the noodle padding to avoid the crease in the middle. She can then iron them at home and lay them in the car and not worry about a crease forming! I know it sounds silly, but I thought I would share incase anyone wanted to steal the idea Smiley smile

My only suggestion is to put a clip of some sort on the runner edge that's on either side of your noodle. My guess is the noodle will 'twirl' and you'll end up with all your runners on the ground. With the clip, they'll stay put. (I'm thinking a clip like they use in the bridal stores for trying on dresses that are too big.)

Yes I agree MB Mom. She was talking about different ways to attach the hanger to the noodle so it would not move. As silly as it sounds though, I think it is a great idea rather then ironing them at the reception hall, which was her origional plan.

Good idea! Thanks for sharing Smiley smile I got lucky my linen lady comes to our venue and steams the linens before putting them on the table.

Very true. When I first was reading your idea, I thought she was going to roll the runner around the noodle-piece... that might work too!

Oh.. brainstorm... cut the noodle the FULL lenth of the hanger bottom. slide it on from the bottom. Twist it 1/2 way around do the slit is at the bottom. Then cut just a bit at the top on each side. Slide the angled sides of the hanger into the top slits.

I think I've hijacked your idea!

A bit of hot glue on the hanger and the noodle could also stop the twirling. Great Idea from your mom tho Laura.

You can also use your chair cover sashes as runners. They look very elegant, are cheaper than actual table runners, and add a splash of color to your tables! Happy planning! :-)

Very creative idea!! You could also just roll them up. When I pack luggage I roll my clothes because it saves space and nothing ends up wrinkled when they are unrolled. Smiley smile

Lindsay: Chair sashes are a good idea. Smiley smile I'll have to look into that!
