Things are getting real! Just bought FH's ring!

mrjonesandme, on January 10, 2016 at 12:16 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I wasn't planning on buying it this early, but Tungsten Affinity was having a 25% off sale that ends tonight so I pulled the trigger and bought his ring. He really wanted tungsten and we loved this design.

Also...do you think it's weird for me not to want a wedding band? I love my engagement ring and have no problem just using that for our ring exchange. Maybe later on I will want a band and he can get it for a holiday gift or whatever...right now, I don't feel like I need it. Is that strange...should I just get one?

LOVE IT! Similar to my FH's ring. I love the style of my e-ring - so we got a simple band that actually helps my e-ring stand out. Jared's helped me with that. But not weird at all.

My engagement ring sits really low/close to my finger and its an emerald cut, so I would have to get something with a strange bend in it to go around it, then it would look weird to wear it alone....I just don't think I would wear it much. Maybe someday when I want a band I can wear on it's own, but I can't imagine something that would complement it, without taking away from it. I'll post a picture in a minute.

ETA: photo to illustrate what I am talking about.

That's a nice ring for FH. It's very simple and elegant. Classic choice.

Ah...I see. I think you can just use it for your wedding band. Especially if you aren't going to wear it anyway.

I have an emerald cut too, and I've been thinking the same thing. I think it will be hard to find a band that looks good with it and I love it by itself!

First of all your E-ring is gorgeous! I can see how you wouldn't want a band. I don't think it's weird not to have a band. If anything it's becoming more common now with E-rings being different shapes and a bit larger.

Your FH's ring is really classic.

Jen...I feel your pain...deeply and truly! Lol. The struggle is real but the emerald is worth it! So beautiful!

I love the look of tungsten rings.

Just be aware about the fact that they are a little bit harder to cut off if your FH jams/breaks his finger and it starts to swell.

FH and I are on the fence about this type of ring, him coming from working in the ER he has seen his share of tungsten gone wrong situations.

FH is a volunteer EMT! He had his reservation too at first. But we decided we'd get him a qalo ring for EMS work and his summer lakeside director job.

That's awesome! FH and I decided on the same thing. A normal ring for casual wear and a qalo ring for other times when it seems fit to wear. Any ring can be a bit of a hassle, tungsten is just a little bit more stubborn to cut if need be. YAY for FHs in the medical field! If not for them I would not have even known what certain types of rings can do!
