Themes for days

Chelsea, on December 27, 2018 at 10:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Im getting married at a beautiful mansion on mackinac island in late september 2019 and i have changed my mind on a theme so many times. My wedding dress is like a platinum blue ball gown. After the dress i started looking into like an ice blue and silver color scheme and like a cinderella style. I love this style. If i were getting married in december. So i was thinking maybe have like a serenity blue and rose quartz blush and have like a secret garden theme? I already decided to use my grandmothers old vintage knick knacks to add a heartfelt vintage vibe to the tables. Add some tea sets and there ya go. Only thing is i want to be super minimal on flowers because to cart a bunch of flowers on the ferry and then across town on foot sounds like unnecessary stress. What do you guys think? Ice blue and silver cinderella? Or rose quartz and serenity secret garden?

Hey Chelsea! To be fair, I like both of those themed ideas. I think you have solid reasoning behind either of them.

I will say that I'm leaning a little more toward the Secret Garden one, though. As much as I love the narrative, Disney/princess/fairytale is done a lot, with good reason, but I think if you can spin it into Secret Garden, it would be awesome. The little knick knacks could be centerpieces and decorations and I think it could be really cool. Add in the tea sets and you could even go with a subtle Alice in Wonderland sort of vibe if you wanted to.

Remember, your wedding doesn't need a theme. Guests won't leave if they realize the theme or style is just you as a couple. Themes and styles are great and grand when planning, but weddings have been going on long before people decided themed weddings were the way to go.

    I agree with this.

OP, I like the secret garden idea, but you would need a lot of flowers and maybe even trees to pull this off and it sounds like logistically that may be difficult.

But as Maggie said you don't need a theme. "Wedding" is a theme by itself.

I like the secrete garden idea, but maybe the wording is too “flower involved”. So maybe like a vintage tea party would be more appropriate?? You could def add some old books to prop up the tea sets and make those the centerpiece or add some birdcages and candles for extra fun!
