"Techie" Ways to share my wedding pics

Asteffens, on October 1, 2012 at 7:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hey all!

I'm looking for a great way to capture photos from the GUESTS at my wedding! I know there will be tons of photos on their phones/cameras, and I feel like this day and age people wouldn't take much of a liking to disposable cameras. There are a few apps for mobile photo sharing--Wedding Snap, Capsule, etc.--and I'm wondering if anyone has looked into these?

To clarify, I'm looking at these as resources in addition to a professional photographer, not instead of.

I have looked at a few of them for myself! I found out that a lot of them will charge you up front to have your guests use it for free. I decided it's not worth the expense, so I'm going to set up an Instagram account for people to post their pictures to!! It's free and most anyone that has an iPhone or Droid already has an account Smiley smile

I've heard of wedding turtle and it's free - but I haven't heard any reviews.

Ray_chull--I can see why you'd be turned off by that cost but I think they charge you because you can order prints and other customized stuff after the pics are uploaded...which would be cool because I can send them to people who can't make it to the wedding, or aren't tech-savvy (like my grandparents lol)

Hana A.--I've checked out snapable.com, but I think I like the interface more on Capsule. Have you seen that app? Lemme know what you think!

I downloaded the app Wedding Party. It's on Android and iPhone. Also, it's free.

I have a Wedding Turtle and Capsule (from when it was totally free), I can't decide which to have my guests use.

Capsule keeps changing and they dont make package inclusions very clear... So that really worries me, esp. since I still have almost a year to go.

We sat cards on the tables at the reception that simply gave a specific Photobucket username and password and asked that guests add photos to the album so everyone could access them. We are over 400 now! It isn't as easy as using an app (but they do have one!) however it let more people contribute! I ordered the cards from VistaPrint for super cheap!

Ms. A, what do you mean Capsule's package inclusions aren't very clear? I did some research and they're pretty new...maybe they're doing some fine-tuning? What did you like about Capsule though?

We used Winkflash. It is free. We liked the interface--it allows things like setting up separate albums for ceremony, dancing, toasts, etc. And unlike many free services, it allows for unlimited uploads and downloads of full hi res images.

We are using Guestshots.com. Not free...but we are not only getting a photo sharing site...but a DVD, a book, CDs of all the shots and we get to use an HD video camera that they send us for several days. =)

Thanks for the ideas guys! I just settled on Capsule though. A coworker recommended it to me and showed me her album. It works for Android and iPhone! and you can also download hi-res photos! I am excited Smiley smile)
