Sprained my anke...

Caroline, on January 25, 2013 at 8:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I know you ladies will understand this.

I managed to hurt my ankle today and am stuck in a moon boot for a few weeks. It's a sprain so the injury could last a long while.

First thought - Oh no, I have a dress fitting next week, and what if I can't wear my wedding shoes on the day!! What if I have to change to flats??? Then my dress will be the wrong length!

As the tailor what he or she thinks.

If it were me I would leave it long for now just in case you get it off in time. You can always take more off later if necessary but it's hard to make it longer later!

I would talk to the dress people to see what they recommend for length in case that happens. You do have nearly 4 months to heal.

I sprained my ankle at work once, and followed their doctor's instructions-including the moon boot, 2 months later I was still swollen, experiencing pain, and unable to carry my route (I'm a mail carrier with a 6 hour walking route), my family was planning a trip to Disneyland and I was depressed cause my ankle hurt so much. The day before our trip I was at the chiropractor's office for a routine visit and I asked him about my ankle- he took a look, manipulated my ankle and the next morning I noticed the swelling was gone and no more pain. I believe chiropractics works, maybe you should check it out.

Thanks so much Meta! That's fantastic advice. I have another appointment with the Dr next week, so will see how it's looking. It seems a lot better today than yesterday.

I'm not that worried about the dress or the shoes. I more thought it was funny that as a bride, that was my first consideration, rather than 'How am I going to get to work next week'.

If your ankle is not better by May then something must be really wrong! I have sprained my ankles many of times, had boots and all that and was never down more then a month or two. The two month was when I almost tore my achilles so that took a little longer to heal Smiley tongue

Dont stress you will be fine!

I would just bring your shoes... when the time comes to take measurements, put your weight on your other foot, briefly, while donning one of your shoes. A good seamstress will be able to take a quick measurement!

Good luck at the doctor's office. Smiley smile
