Spinoff (kind of): NOT doing Boudoir photos?

I asked DH about this when we first got engaged. He told me he didn't see the point. He's able to see me naked whenever he wanted so why did he need photos.

My FH has already asked -twice- that I do a boudoir session for him but I reaaallly dont want to. One, for all the reasons you said, but also I'm just not comfortable with it. I just know I'll look ridiculous and I'm not crazy about the idea of being half naked in front of the photographer either. Congrats to the girls who do them though, they're braver than me lol.

I'm with you. What a total waste. Besides, FH is my partner - it seems like the boudoir photos objectify women. I'm not an object for him to drool over. I'm a human being and his best friend.

I was thinking of doing them myself, and my moh offered to take the pics for me. I couldn't justify the cost either. I figure if they don't turn out, I'm not out anything.

I would totally do them. If they weren't $500 to get 3 prints!!! I think they're sexy. Maybe hang in the closest to remind myself of my hotness

I'm not doing them because I don't want to spend the time/money on them. I get the appeal and they're actually great confidence boosters for some women. But.....I just can't fit it in and I don't need something stupid happening where these photos are stolen (even if they are tasteful) and displayed somewhere.

@Janeen. That would be awful. Can you just see them ending up in the hands of those rotten little brat wand thieves in your neighborhood?!

I've contemplated doing them for the same reason..what will he do with them? they will probably sitting in a drawer collecting dust. and for the price of them it may not be worth it..

i love A&J's idea tho! if i had a walk in closet i would love to hang them in there!!!

I did a boudoir shoot for him as a surprise deployment gift, made a book and printed out some pictures. That book is now collecting dust in our bedroom lol I think it's more for me now as I like to look at it and remind myself how good I looked!

My story is the same as JuneBride's. He doesn't see a point to things like that. I even have two full drawers of new expensive lingerie that never gets used because he's like "It ends up in the floor anyway. What's the point?" Lol! So I just use that stuff when I want it to match my outfits.

Many seem to have the totally wrong idea of boudoir photography...most are presented in an album or scrapbook, not displayed on a desk.

Your 70 year old self, with all of its accomplishments, will still relish the occasional glance at your 25-40 year old self (and so will his 70 year old self...I guarantee it).

I don't think I'll be doing it as a wedding gift, but I was thinking about doing a mini session or something for a birthday or an anniversary down the road! I think it'd be nice confidence booster.

I have no desire to have boudoir photos done. It isn't something my FH would really care about and he doesn't have anyplace he could put them either.

I'm with you. DH would have absolutely no where to put it etc...unless they were just in an album beside the bed. But what if our kiddo decided to check them out? Creepy. I just don't think they're worth it.

Instead of a boudoir/bridal portrait session I decided to do a wreck the dress session with my 8 year old daughter a month after the wedding. We took pictures together and took some informal-ish bridal portraits and then I went swimming in the ocean! I can't wait to see the final product (just had them taken last weekend) but I'm so pumped about it! And they can actually be displayed places unlike boudoir photos.

I did not take boudoir photos, and its really not our thing. Those that want to do it....be careful with storing the photos....and have fun!

I'm mostly doing mine for a confidence boost, as Janeen said. I want to do them now, at my biggest, and hopefully another time when (if) I loose all the weight I'd like to lose. I've decided to save the expense though and just use my friend's DSLR camera and do them myself. Like another said, if they don't turn out well, I haven't lost anything except for time.

I don't worry about our kids looking through them because they are taught not to dig through our things in the bedroom, where the photos will most likely be stored/kept.

I did them but took the photo's myself with a tripod and camera. They came out great and didn't cost $500. I gave them to my husband in an album and he loved it. If I couldn't do it myself, it totally wouldn't have been worth the cost cause yes the album is sitting in his nightstand drawer collecting dust :-/
