Should I make my guest travel?

Desired809, on December 7, 2013 at 4:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

1st I want to thank the ladies that replied to my last post, you guys opened my eyes about some small details that I was not even awared of. Once again THANK YOU LADIES!

So I couldn't find any affordable and catering flexible place at home (Las Vegas) but there are tons of them about 2-3 hrs away in St. George and Washingtong, Utah. The question is should I make my guest travel or is that a bad idea?

I just want everyone to be comfortable, and of course, avoid to strain my pocket. I want to spend more on things that are important to me like FOOD and flowers.

I've traveled for several weddings. Like Erin said, you expect it.

Everybody has to travel to my wedding, including me! But part of the reason for that is my family is 12 hours away from FH's family, so we picked a spot kind of in the middle.

I think people generally expect to travel for weddings. Even some who live fairly close will still make an overnight of it so they don't have to drive. Don't worry about it! Focus on making your day the way you want, and people will be there Smiley smile

WOOW I thought about doing it back home (Dominican Republic) but his family is not willing to travel outside of states!

Bummer! But sounds amazing good luck!

You can't "make" anyone travel. Guests will either be okay with traveling and attend or not be okay and decline. Two hours really isn't too far so I doubt it will be a problem. Just think about blocking out some hotel rooms nearby.

When thetes travel involved, the guest list will end up smaller but theres nothing wrong with that. People can choose to go or not. Just plan the party you want.

I think it just depends on you family and friends. I had to choose a venue within my hometown because the majority of my extended family was unwilling to travel to where FH and I live about an hour away.

If you're concerned people might not come - ask around and get a consensus.

I don't personally why traveling for a wedding would be an issue. Like the other ladies stated it is kind of a given that some travel may be involved.
