Safe deposit box rented & marriage certificate ordered!

Cabell, on July 2, 2010 at 11:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Whew. Yesterday I finally stopped by the bank and signed us up for a safe deposit box--I've been telling DS we needed one for like three months now so when he got home & I told him I got one, OF COURSE his first response was "For what?" For my birth certificate, if nothing else (his parents still have his; I told him to get it from them).

And also for a copy of our marriage certificate, which I was FINALLY able to order from Clark County this morning. I knew their website was kind of a nightmare, but I was still shocked when every time I clicked on the button to order our marriage certificate online, I got a PAGE NOT FOUND error. I had to email someone who I guess fixed something, so that I was able to order two copies this morning. I figure we'll have one in the house in case we need it, & a second in the box.

We can also put wills in there, which we need to write up, & DS's life insurance policy. Am I missing anything major? I should note that I don't own any major jewels. :p

What about a document or file with all your username's and passwords for every website you have a username and password for? I did this, and i told my FS that if something were to ever happen to me, this USB drive has all my username's and passwords, along with my bank pin, and bills that i have.

Analy: I did! I just posted a short reply. Pretty much all our old family photos have been digitized and uploaded to Flickr by my dad, so we don't need hard copies of those.

Erin: Good point--I was thinking I'd keep my passport booklet there (I have a passport card, too, only good for travel into Canada and Mexico, which I keep in my wallet).

T&J: EXCELLENT idea. DS & I should definitely both do that.

I've also got a few saving bonds from my grandmother that haven't matured yet; I should put those in.

Oh, good idea, Danielle. We've got the car title, although we still rent--and Katy, we've got renters' insurance so that's another good one to put in. Honestly, I think my parents might still have MY SS card--I should call.
