PSA/Spin Off: Guess what a KitchenAid can do!?

Kylene, on September 25, 2014 at 11:32 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

SHRED CHICKEN!

Seriously ... ever have a CrockPot recipe (or other recipe) were at some point you have to remove the chicken breasts/thighs and shred them up? Ever sat there on a cutting board with two forks pulling them apart?

Well, no more!

Toss that chicken in the KitchenAid with the regular paddle attachment, turn that baby on for 30-45 seconds, and VOILA! PERFECTLY shredded chicken.

You're welcome.

If I use it for nothing else in my life, THAT makes it all worth it Smiley smile

Holy crap, now I can confirm I need someone to get this off my registry.

But seriously. Shredded chicken is delicious but such a bitch to do.

Ha! I love this post! I will have to register for a KitchenAid mixer now! Of course I bake as well, but I want to try this out now.

O.O will it also shred pork? Like, if I put a cooked pork butt in there, will it make pulled pork???

I am more excited than ever to own a KitchenAid! But I haven't used it yet, so I'll have to just follow this thread for later! Smiley smile

I did not know it could do that!! Especially that easy. Time to clear off room to leave it on the counter!

Ooooh I didnt know!! Mine sits on my counter unused most of the time! I'm not a baker (I love dessert... but if I make it I will eat it... so i just don't!). I really only use it to make mashed sweet potatoes... and thats a pretty hefty price for a one-trick pony!

Kylene! I wrote that on the thread about KitchenAid mixer. Shredding chicken is the ABSOLUTE WORST. And yes, Jenn it will shred pork as well.

@Jenn, I would assume so? I haven't tried it, but I'll have to next time I make pulled pork! I'd assume if the pork gets moist enough to pull it apart with forks it would work with the mixer as well.

All I know is that the KitchenAid has allowed me to remain lazy but make some yummy recipes Smiley smile

@Koch Bride, did you? I must have missed it! I thought I read them all! And yes, shredding chicken is my least favorite thing in the kitchen. I burn my fingers every time and I don't even know how I do it!

The dough hook will also give you perfect pizza dough. I make four or five batches in a row and freeze it.

Like Koch said, it will shred chicken and pork! They really come out being the perfect size (not minced but not huge chunks).

Also, as Enya said, it also makes the perfect mashed potatoes. Ah-maz-ing.

Confession- I want a house so we can have our mixer. Mine is in storage at my parents because we have absolutely no room for it in our current place Smiley sad

Celia, the pizza dough is the best. Seriously, every time we are at my in law's, I hijack their mixer and have made so much pizza dough.
