Plus Size Bridal Gowns

DOMINIQUE, on September 9, 2012 at 11:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

My wedding is not until late 2014. Thus, I have not begun my search for the perfect Bridal Gown. I know a good seamstress. However, I dont want to spend the extra money on a gown so I will start out at bridal stores.

Do any of my fabulous plus sized brides know of any places to get a beautiful gown besides DB?

Alfred Angelo! I tried on lots of samples from AA and really liked a bunch of them. My small boutique in Alaska carried quite a few of them.

I have been to several boutique bridal stores in Houston and have not had any trouble finding dresses to try on. I would suggest calling ones in your area to see what their selections are like and going from there.

Definately call ahead with boutiques. I called one that only had samples up to size 12, but they could order up to a 32. Okay, so how do I tell what it will look like on me if your sample fits my leg? I had great luck at Davids Bridal. I know a lot of brides have had horrible experiences there, but mine has been great. And my Alfred Angelo experience? Can you say no help? They pointed me in a direction and left us to our own devices until I had a dress on and then the consultant showed up to tell me how beautiful I looked in every gown that I tried on, then disappeared until the next was on.

There are several DB stores as well as boutiques in my area. Im going to try them all and see. Hopefully I have a good experience. I am not a fan of poor customer service. That is one of my biggest pet-peeves.

    Thanks for the info Ladies!

I went to a couple boutique stores with great plus sized selections. I actually found DB to have less of a selection in the styles I wanted (slightly more fitted). DB seems to have a lot of princess dress styles in plus size. Or they had size 16 in a dress I liked, but since it was fitted, you need it to go over your hips to properly see what it will look like. I would suggest trying boutiques.

If you have a lot of stores to choose from, I would try calling around and asking what their plus size selection was. I found it was a better use of my time to pick the stores that had many plus size gowns.

All the bridal gowns carried at Bridal boutiques go up to a size 30 or 32, and some companies will do special sizing also, like Casablanca, Allure, and a few others. Although they may not have all the samples in the store, it can be ordered in your size. You will be measured by an experience consultant. Allow time..26 weeks for your order to be processed, and there is always going to be an extra fee for the larger size.

Some companies will "loan" a sample out to try on. You may want to call around. However, the company does charge a loan fee. Please be prepared to pay the fee as they are providing a service which is slowly disappearing.

That's really a great idea, you should gather different bridal gowns first before choosing the best that suits for you and what you loves the most. And I think most women really considers that first before getting their final bridal gown, like me and my friends usually go here Bridesire.com first whenever we want to see other details of bridal dresses.
