NWR: I've never been so happy to have a kidney stone!

OregonEmily, on March 20, 2014 at 2:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

Weird right? I have always been prone to UTIs, but the problem has been chronic for the last 7-8 years. Seriously, UTI pain runs my life. It's such a horrible, vulnerable pain. I have done extensive research and come to the conclusion that the problem might be FH's body chemistry. (We've been together the same length of time that the UTI's have been chronic.)

I've been to several doctors and all they want to do is pump me full of antibiotics and send me on my way. I don't like what antibiotics do to my system and half the time they don't even work for me.

Well, dumbass that I am (and all of the docs I've been to) didn't realize that the kidney stone I had 8 years ago might be the problem. Apparently I never passed it and it's just hanging out in my bladder, infected. It sounds bad, but this is great news! It's a problem that can be solved now! Not just a horrible, painful issue I have to "deal with" for the rest of my life.

Sorry for the over-share. I'm just excited!

I hope this gets fixed soon. FH has had a few kidney stones since we have been together and they are terrible. Are you getting a lithotripsy (spelling?) or do they only do that to men?

It's relieving to know that it's not the mix of your physical chemistry with FH.

@GameCox- I think they do that to both men and women. I'm not sure exactly how they are going to go about getting it out yet. All that's happened so far is they've determined that's what's been causing all the pain (for 8 freaking years!!!)

I get UTIs and Kidney Stones. I was in the same boat as you, kept getting diagnosed with UTIs then went to a specialist and was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. It's a chronic inflation of the bladder, I did treatments for a while and haven't had any issues with it since.

I use to get UTI's a lot. Now I have to pee after DH and I have the lovin'. It's not the most romantic thing, but hey if it stops me from having to go through that pain I'm all for it.

And yes, I agree that pain is awful.
