NWR: I F!@#$%^& HATE GROUP ASSIGNMENTS

I am currently in grad school getting my Master's in Criminal Justice. This summer course is only 6 weeks long. Part of our grade is for a group of 3 of us to pick an issue and "teach" the class. We have to administer a quiz and a class activity. Well... this may sound sexist, but my group consists of me and two guys. They are the worst partners... The last day of class is 06/19. We have not even agreed on a topic! I have sent e-mails to the, and talked to them after c lass, but they always say "We should have something picked by next class" and then another week goes by. I e mailed them yesterday with my ideas, and letting them know this month is SUPER busy for me. Neither one of them has responded. I F!@#$%^ HATE GROUP PROJECTS!!! Thank you for listening. OH and please pray that you don't see me on the national news for chopping up my group members into little pieces! UGH

    My entire masters program was like that. All group projects. Even our thesis was a group thesis. It was hell. There is always at least one person who doesn't do the work but still gets the credit. I think there's a special circle of hell reserved for group work. I wish you the best of luck.

    FutureMrsS: A group thesis??? I couldn't imagine! I have flashbacks from undergrad doing group assignments and getting F's because people didn't pull their weight! I hate them with a passion!

    I always hated group assignments. It didn't matter who they were - male/female everyone one of them was awful!

    I think I would lose y mind if I had to do a group thesis. I am not normally a control frek, but when it comes to school work.. I absolutely become one. i want to be the ONLY person responsible for my grade. And since you can't control other people, it makes it even worse that I can't get things done when I want. OHHHHHH I need a drink!

    I think group project participants are like the people in "Hangover". There's Stu - the responsible one (in this case you), Phil - the fun one, Alan - the one that has no sense and just serves to create problems and Doug - the one that is there at the beginning and then you don't see him until the end of the project. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this, I guess maybe tell them if something isn't chosen soon, you will chose one and do what you can without them. You shouldn't have to do all the work but if it comes down to doing all the work yourself or getting a failing grade on the project, I would do all the work myself.

    I was just going to write that there is a special circle in hell for group projects (not even ones as bad as a thesis), when I saw that Future MrsS already made that point.

    Theresa- that is an amazing analogy.

    They are the absolute worst and the single biggest reason I was happy to be done with my MBA coursework last year.

    @Barbara hilarious!!!! I hate group projects too I seem to be the one doing all the work. Glad I'm done with school........makes me have second thoughts about getting my masters :-/
