NWR: FH's Dorky Gift :)

GetCarriedAway, on December 15, 2015 at 11:27 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25

So I just spent over $100 on a pen for my FH's Christmas gift. Yes, a PEN! I'm blown away! I had no idea they could even cost that much! But I know he's really been wanting one and it actually seems nice (stainless steel fountain pen with gold trim.) Plus I can't wait to see his handsome face when he opens it! What gift did you get your spouse or future spouse this holiday season? (:

Aww, neat! There's a few fountain pen fans on the forum Smiley smile hopefully they'll see the batsignal and will post here to let you know you made a great investment!

I got DH the complete season of Seinfeld, a CD by Chris Hadfield (a Canadian astronaut!) and a really cool book of maps that was a suggestion from another WW member, Katy!

We both graduated from the same university which has a ridiculous sized diploma, something like 13.5 inches by 18.25 inches and the frames the school sells are $180 a pop. I managed to find almost perfect frames on sale at Micheals one day and had custom mats made so that she can finally hang her diploma! I am probably too excited for our matching diplomas to hang above our sofa.

I love pens! I got him wireless headphones (he loves his Xbox), a clarisonic, and some new shirts. Oh and can't forget a stocking full of goodies too!

We do the same thing every year, my mom did it growing up. We get each other 4 things...something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read. This year he got a wireless phone charger he wanted, a new pair of sunglasses he needed, a nice sweater, and a book I think he'll love. I also put a few movies and his favorite candy in his stocking.

Everyone's gifts sound so thoughtful! And mrjonesandme! What a fabulous idea! I might steal that when I have kids one day when they want to buy gifts for each other or something (:

Thanks, @wyattswife. It was nice growing up. Christmas was more about family and appreciating everything than spending hours around the tree unwrapping. Always those same 4 things and stocking stuffers. I'll definitely be doing that with my kids.

I bought him a scuba mask that can film and take pics while we dive. I hope it works! It looks awesome!

I should find something else too but I'm so over shopping.

That's a lovely pen. I'm on my phone, so I can't tell what kind - is it a Parker Sonnet? I'm a fountain pen user- I only use fountain pens - and $100'is about right for a good one. Mine range from $16 (Pilot Metropolitan) to $600 (Visconti Homo Sapiens). If he's never used one before, have him check out Gouletpens.com for stuff and also Brian Goulet's YouTube videos on care and maintenance. I love my Parker Sonnet.

Also, get him some extra cartridges or a bottle of ink (Diamine and Noodlers have good colors) and consider getting him a maintenance kit from Goulet. They really do require care. It's easy to care for one, but super important.

I bought him some items for his Wii U and PC (he's a big gamer). I also bought him some cologne from Sephora.

It's a good feeling to get someone something you know they really want :-) I actually got two tickets to a Jets game on 12/27 so FH can take his 15 year-old son, who has never been to a game. FH is a Jets fanatic so I know he is excited about this (he already knows). Also, for his 40th birthday in January, I got him a Diesel watch. Poor guy has been hinting about it for a looong time and I finally splurged on it. Lol!

I haven't gotten anything yet- I'm horribly at buying him gifts. Like. Truly Horrible.

We needed slippers- but I told my mom- so she got us those so now I need something else. Derp.

Probably a new punisher hoody if I can find the right one- the one I bought him 3 years ago is from Walmart and was never meant to be worn with that kind of regularity.

This year FH is getting a bunch of smaller gifts. We already did our Chanukah exchange. Since I'm Jewish we always do one day, but do our bigger gifts on Christmas. For Chanukah I got him the disney christmas train set he really wanted to put under the tree. For Christmas he's getting a chewbacca camera bag, tickets to a NWHL game, a video game, a 3d zelda print and some clothing. He also will get a few stocking stuffers.

Ah man. I'm having a rough time with this one. He wants this controller that plays his computer games on the tv. I got him a mug that cracked me up. Hopefully he appreciates it. A watch box because he always talks about how he wants one. And one of those shelves that goes under the keurig for the kcups because I'm tired of them taking up all my cabinet space! I added the picture of the mug.
