Cris, on August 16, 2016 at 11:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Hi everyone,

I'm getting married on November 5th 2016, and FH and I decided not having a save the date because was a very last minute wedding(only 3 and half months wedding plan) but we are doing website and we put our link on the back of our invitation card. We are sending the invites during next week. Here's my question, we have 50 guest including kids, and the guest are very tech people. Should we use the REPV website or should we do a RSPV cards??? Help please, thank you!!! Picture on comments

This depends on your guest list. Are a lot older? Most tech wavy? Yes it simple to RSVP online but if you have a lot of older guests it may not work as well.

I am doing e-mail RSVP as well as added my phone number. So far the older people e-mail (most eloquently) and younger crowd text me. We are also prepare to follow up with an actual phone call closer to the deadline.

I have a guest list of 110 some older, some younger. However, I am totally going to go with the RSVP online option because of all the stamps and addressing return envelopes and all that. Most of everyone that has RSVP'd loves the idea...and for those who are older (my grandparents) I decided I would just mail theirs. So, I think it sounds like a good idea.

    Thanksfor helping girls!!!

My guest are around 30ish to 40ish years old.

I'm grandmother is coming from Brazil and he is the oldest one (just turned 86 this week)

I guess I'll keep only with online RSPV

It could work, but please make sure you put "RSVP" on your website and not "RSPV."

I'm old school. I want the handwritten RSVP card in my hand.

And make sure you put a date that you would like them to RSVP by (usually about 4 weeks out)

I sent cards to about 2/3 off my guests and had the rest use the website (younger/more tech savvy). I also put the link to the website on my RSVP cards with a note saying they could do that instead. I only got 5 or 6 cards back out of 20. Some of them used the website instead. A few people food tell me they had problems with the site, honestly it's so simple I wanted to ask them how that was possible but they ended up just emailing/texting me and I added them myself. I'm kind of mad I wasted ahi much money on RSVP cards tbh.

Oh and on the back please say something like "To RSVP and for more information please visit (link). Kindly respond by (rsvp deadline)."

You need to include that the RSVP is on the website, and that they need to RSVP by a certain date.

I used the RSVP on the website, but ordered a few RSVP cards to send to the older/less tech saavy people. My advice is to make sure that you are very clear about RSVP'ing on your website. Some of my people missed it and I have had to track them down.

I have invited 100 guests. Only doing email, text, website rsvps. 40 have rsvped since I mailed out invites 1.5 weeks ago. I suspect I'll have to call a few older guests but it's worked. Out fine so far!

So my fiance and I hand wrote our RSVP cards with very specific details (i.e. the names of each guest & how many seats were reserved in their honor). We still had people say "we have to RSVP??". I totally understand you feeling torn about it. At the end of the day if you're going to put in a lot of effort you have to be okay with most millennials not appreciating the RSVP card or even looking at it.

We did both. An online option and a mail in option.

I sent out RSVP cards. The return date passed a week ago. About 90 people rsvp'd via text (me texting them first) or in person.

I don't necessarily regret sending out paper ones. But it was not what I expected.

If you don't send RSVP cards, you still need to send instructions on how to RSVP. A "visit our website for more details" on the back isn't going to cut it. Most people will not look at the back and even if they did they would think you forgot to send them an enclosure because there is no mention of RSVP at all.
