Menu Cards?

Soon2BeMrs.W, on June 8, 2013 at 9:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

We're doing a plated meal - salad (mixed field greens, candied walnuts, diced pears, pear & walnut vinaigrette, tart apples, cranberries, bleu cheese), a duel entree (in a ying-yang design - new york strip on garlic mashed potatoes and honey & sesame encrusted chicken breast on string beans with garlic , toasted sesame seeds , sesame oil and soy sauce) and of course wedding cake and some passed desserts. Do I NEED menu cards? I don't really want to do one for the table but I also don't want people to "worry" about what they're eating. Yes, we're doing vegetarian and kosher options which they can pick on the RSVP card

Hmmm I wasn't going to do menu cards as mine is plated too. I mean, the menu is on the rsvp card.

Our RSVP card has three options - Chicken and Steak Duet, Vegetarian, Kosher - is that enough?

We have 4, but 3 is enough too. We did have a description of each meal though on the card instead of just "chicken", "beef", etc.

We did menu cards only because our venue offered them in our package.. They came out really nice and my guest liked the fact that they knew what they were going to eat before they got served.

You can do a large menu poster once your menu is finalized if you don't want to make smaller cards. But it would likely be easy to order multiple menu cards somewhere online for pretty cheap or likely free.

I was to a wedding where there was one menu card per table. People passed the card around and it gave people a chance to talk to each other. Particularly people who did not know each other at the table.

I would if it doesn't hurt your budget and time. Sounds delish!

Well if you explained what they are getting on the RSVP cards then they should already know. Im getting menus for 2 purposes-decor and I only put chicken and beef as an option on the RSVP with no details, so I feel I would like my guests to know what it is they are eating..

We're doing menu cards at each place setting to serve three purposes: (1) to let people know what course is coming up next - we have multiple courses, (2) as table cards so people know where to sit, and (3) as a way to let our venue servers know which meal to serve to each person (blue ribbon - chicken, pink - beef, purple - vegetarian, and green - special/kids)

We printed the menus on our home printer and attached corresponding ribbon as we received the RSVPs. Quick and easy. We received phone calls from both our venue coordinator and the head of catering specifically to say how much they appreciate the way we are doing it as the ribbons are very server friendly as they are easy for the staff to see selections
