Married ladies/gents! What replaced wedding planning after the wedding?

May Bride, on April 20, 2016 at 5:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 50

I've noticed that sometimes people get sad when they think of how wedding planning will end. I don't think I'll be that person. I'm excited to imagine all the the non-wedding things I can fill my time with when planning ends.

So, after your party was had and planning was done, what did you do with all your free time (and money)?? Or if you're still in the thick of it, what are you planning to do?

We've started house hunting and focusing more on our health. So, that's where all of our money and time go.

I was so sick of wedding planning and so glad it's over! Now I have time to get the rest of my life in order -- house cleaning, financial planning, work work work, etc.

I miss all of the wedding stuff so much! Seriously was depressed about it all being over for a little bit. I've been married for a little over 3 months now and both my husband and I always talk about how great the day was and how we wish we could do it over and over again. We had a really good time though planning and designing our wedding. I even miss the stress of it all.

We replaced it with being on wedding wire even more and living the planning again through other brides...haha.

Money went into savings and paid off some things we put on credit.

And we're working on our 3rd baby. Smiley smile

We were really looking forward to not having anything to do. We are pregnant now, so that changed our plans a lot. I'm working more to bank more leave time since my emergency surgery two weeks ago ate up some of that time, we refinanced our mortgage from a 30 year to 15 year, DH is upgrading his car and we are currently saving for a third vehicle that will fit our growing family. At least we were able to pay all our debt off except the mortgage before all of this.

House stuff. Cleaning, redecorating, redoing a lot around the yard. Also starting up composting and gardening. I've also tried to make sure I don't lose touch with friends, so I try to make sure I'm getting out a couple times a week at least or having people over for dinner.

I'm hoping to save money / get back on a normal budget. Spend time with friends and family, and just enjoy not having the stress!

My life? I'm not trying to replace something that's sucking up my busy life. I work four - five jobs.

I love my life- wedding planning is such a pain in the fucking ass.

Law school! Sucks up the majority of my time and more money than 3 weddings.

I took the LSAT 2 months before our wedding, started applying the month after our wedding. I will graduate just before our 4th anniversary and hopefully by year 5 we can start doing other things like looking for houses/thinking about babies.

Having a kid and saving for a house is next for us. I think I'll be 5% sad. But I like to plan small odd events with friends... Game of thrones premiere night is this Sunday!

I'll be pretty consumed with grad school (and - if FH has his way - planning for our first baby! lol). I think I'll miss wedding planning though because I love planning things. We have home renovations to do (we bought our first house almost exactly 1 year ago), so that will take up a bit of time.
