Had a makeup trial this weekend. Was very disappointed. I told her I normally wear a more natural look but for my wedding I want it to be glam...showed her a couple inspiration pics...and this is how it turned out. Looks like my every day look besides the false lashes. Ugh. Thankfully I have plenty of time to search for another artist.

Two Peas- agree you look cute but natural. Sounds like the MUA wasn't hearing you well. At least it was only a trial!

Lisa I can never manage to make gel liner work for me haha. I make a mess and it never seems to dry. My favorite is the liquid pens with felt tips- more precision, but liquid are typically longer-lasting and bolder than crayons.

@holly- yeah she definitely wasn't listening!

@lisa- 2018. I've never had airbrush done before so I wanted to try it out. Definitely on the search for an artist who isn't afraid to glam me up.

eta: lisa- that didn't sound harsh! no worries. I was pretty mad when I was sitting there taking pictures. Paid $40 to look like I wasn't wearing any makeup!

My own make up, I totally wanted my make up done. And I actually know two people that do this locally with pretty successful business but they have a minimum of 4 people. My mom doesn't want hers done and I only have one bridesmaid. I always thought of hiring a service that came to me because my venue is letting us in 2 hours early to get ready in a beautiful room. So now it's just figuring out do I go get my hair and makeup done somewhere else and then spent two hours just getting dressed at the venue or do I get my hair done then go to the venue and do my own makeup and get dressed.

Two Peas- If you don't mind me asking, what were the inspo pics you gave them? Also, I'm sorry your trial didn't go well! I hope you find a new artist and that trial goes better for you! Also, as a positive note, I love the lashes they used for you! Smiley smile

    ETA: To answer @LIsa K...

    1) It depends on how much time I have. I have a chronic illness, so I definitely like a good snooze after my alarm goes off. Mornings are hard for me to get up and function Smiley sad

On a minimum, I do a BB cream over primer, eyeshadow/liner, mascara, a liquid lipstick, and a setting spray.

If I have a lot of time, I do a full coverage foundation over primer, contour and highlight, blush, full eye make-up, a liquid lipstick, and setting spray.

    2) FH is in VT and I'm in NY Smiley sad No date for us, outside of Skype (hopefully!). I'm third-wheeling at a dinner with my mother and step-father at a nice restaurant, so I'll dress up a bit for that.

2Peas- holy hell- you're adorable- but what make up? Looks like lashes and foundation!!! TIME FOR A NEW ARTIST! -

Lisa- thanks- I was watching a KathleenLights tutorial- and she did this whole like pinkey grey- purple think -and I was said- YES- I want that! And it was easy- only 3 colors. I did a sloppy job today- so could be better but I'm not mad at it!

I also need new gel liner- I love my NYX stuff- but I'm about 1/2- 3/4 of the way through and it's just- dried out I have to really fight with it to apply well- so meh- time for new product.

    As for the questions

    1.)- daily make up?

totally depends on what time I get up- and if I have prepared lunch/work out bag the night before.

I'm a big fan of the more the merrier- but some days I just walk out with mascara. not a fan- but I will.

Even in the field I tend to put make up on- basic skin evening and powder- and a light color on the eye. I feel so naked w/ no eye liner and mascara!

2.) Valentines- I am gigging at the restaurant- so I'm going to probably go bare face to work so I don't have to take off make up and re-apply for my gig at 5:30.

We might go out on Thursday- I usually do it up for dates- he doesn't care- but I do.

TheD- I love that you can wear those rich colors- they look so amazing on you!!!

I double up- I'm using two wet N wild ones right now- I volumizer and a lengthenor- usually works better than trying to get one product to do the same thing.

I'm super cheap with mascara- the price difference for a product that gets replaced so frequently isn't worth it IMHO.

Has anyone gotten their eyebrows micro bladed before ? It's semi permanent, so you have to get it touched up a few times a year. One of my BM got it done & it looks AMAZING. I'm highly considering it because I seriously lack in the brow department. This is her before & after.

I have some reviews of long lasting lipsticks! I'll post the pics first (cause they are on my phone), and then follow up with comments!

1st: stila stay all day liquid lipstick in fiery.

Alyssa TF born this way foundation/concealer are my high end splurges!!! I love them- it's my favorite (outside of Elizebeth Arden)- I really want to try Shape Tape by Tarte- but I really actually like TF.

So fabulous- I'm happy that's what you got and you like them!!!

TwoPeas- question- I'm guessing you didn't say anything when she was 'done'?

I know it's awkward- but it would have been appropriate for you to speak up- why didn't you? I would not have left like that honestly- I would have continued to sit there till she fixed it.

Hailey- Hopefully someone can help- I haven't - but they look really good!

@Two Peas, ooooo, she was way off. Not that I thought any different, but looking at your inspo pics, there's not even a hint of black eyeshadow! Again, I'm sorry about that Smiley sad But, I still say I like the lashes she used! They remind me of the Eyelure/Allure/Can't be bothered to check the spelling lengthy lashes I used once upon a time. I loved those!

@HailyMarie, I'm interested in microblading, but I've seen reviews on YT where the people who got them done were less than thrilled with their results after they initially got them done.

I'm also picky with my brows and prefer shaping them and filling them in myself.

However, I think this stuff is all personal preference, so if you have the money to do it and want to give it a go, I say go for it!

@Lisa yes I agree! That's why I was wondering if anyone else had reviews. She just got hers done a month or so ago so they look bomb. I guess I'll see how they look in a few months ha

@Jo- When she was doing my eye shadow she would stop and ask me if she could go darker. I told her twice to go darker and then she showed me again when she was finished with the eyes and I told her the "middle" part of my eye was still too light- not enough color. So at that point I was just over it and didn't speak up anymore. I know I should have spoken up when she was completely done but I am more on the reserved side so I kept to myself. When I got home later that night I looked back at her instagram posts and noticed that a good majority of her brides all had that natural look ( I didn't realize this before nor did I look hard enough I guess) So I am just going to assume that is her style and keep looking.

    eta:

@Jay- I loved the lashes too! FH & I were going to a group tasting for a potential caterer right after so I took the lashes off in the car. I felt silly having these long lashes with makeup that looked like I wasn't wearing any!

I did this look for a photoshoot I had and I was thinking of doing something similar for my wedding. I plan to dance my ass off so I don't want too much and I don't want my face to feel cakey. I was thinking of having more of a smokey eye and darker lip though? I suck at contouring :/

Murray- those look great!- I love the Stila on you!

Lisa- if you told her TWICE mid application to go darker- and that's what she gave you- definitely move on.

Usually I'm like "well- give them a chance"- but that's a giant bag of nopes.

I had my MUA put pure loose pigment on top of 2 layers of highlighter- "Spare no expense" GO HAM GO HAM GO HAM.

Seriously like theD said- it's rare people ever truly have "too much"

I've seen one person whose make up truly looked like shit from "too much" but it was like- bad blue 80's color block make up- it was REALLY bad. not just "too much" but like- shitty application type bad.

TheD- when was the last time you replaced the Neutrogena one? it might be dying. (they tend to be very "natural" anyway- which is why I won't bother with most of their products)

But yeah- I use 2- I always buy 2 different types- a big fat caterpillar brush- AND one of those rubbery ones- the fat one for volume- and the rubbery ones for length- works like a charm.
