KWR-Spray Tans

Kaytee, on July 9, 2014 at 12:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

My paste-white skin could use some color but I fear coming out orange! Have any of you used the Mystic spray machine booth versus having someone spray you? Curious to know how well the tan turns out.

I used it back in high school and liked it at the time. However, if you are considering doing this I would definitely go to a tanning salon now and test it out to see how it looks. If you hate it then you don't have to do it for your wedding. If you love it then you should get it for your wedding. I would have for you to do it a few days before you wedding, hate it, and not be able to fix it!

I prefer the personal spray tan. The person applying it can get better coverage. However, it still doesn't look quite like a regular "tan".

I'm incredibly pale myself, when I don't have a tan. I like airbrush a lot more than mystic or doing it yourself. Mystic isn't customized. Airbrush is. It looks natural too. The person looks at you beforehand and mixes it depending on what she thinks will look good on you. They are trained professionals. Just read reviews before you go, and do a test run. I went to a person last week and she said I could come back different times and try out different tones.

I'm pale by nature, I use the VersaSpa spray tan. Its a machine, but NO orange. I know people that used mystic and they were orange. Iknow people that have also had a person spray them and it turned out good. Im just too much of a chicken to be naked in front of someone I dont know. Definitely check out VersaSpa. They have 3 different color levels. I do the 2nd level. I tried the first level but it was too light. It doesn't come off on your clothes and lasts a week or two depending if you go swimming a lot. I do it 2 nights before an event. I go at night since you can't shower for 6 hours.

I suggest going to a salon and talking to the consultant about what they use in their spray. If it's a keratin/carrot based spray then it will make you orange. I spray tan in a VersaSpa bed and it's a walnut based spray so I get a nice, bronze look without it being overdone. I'm not sure where you live but Sun Tan City uses VersaSpa!

Definitely use VersaSpa over Mystic. Its pretty much the same thing but better! I have used it a lot this summer and no one could tell I was using the spray. They have soaps and lotions to use to extend the life of the tan also. I go about once a week to keep it consistent.

Definitely do a trial. Also, take pictures afterwards. I think people tend to look more orange in photos after spray tanning than in real life.

Personally, I had never tried any type of spray tanning (DIY or by a pro) until a few days before our wedding. I went the Wednesday before to an actual spray tan pro who did an airbrush tan. If you can get passed the bashful part of being down to your undies in front of a stranger, then I think you'd like the results. Personally, I LOVED the spray tan. I thought it was awesome, and it turned out really well, and I'm normally REALLY fair skinned with a tendency to burn rather than tan. I had to wear dark colored, loose cloths the rest of the day (which was fine), and then I was able to wash off the bronzer about 8 hours after. The tan starting showing up within 4-5 hours as they said it would. I would experiment a little if I were you. It was sort of an after thought for me, but now I refuse to be in a wedding without getting one of those tans a few days before. I'm surprised I even considered it that close to our wedding, but the tan lasted about a week, and it became more natural looking as I showered each day. By the time our wedding came that Saturday, it still looked really good. I had a good recommendation from my hair stylist (who I've used for years, and she had JUST gotten back from getting that same tan) so I knew I would be fine.

Experiment... you still have time, but keep your mind open. You'd be surprised. It's better than risking cancer!
