In trouble! ;)

Jen, on December 23, 2016 at 11:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 23

I found this beautiful dress I fell in LOVE with from Light in the Box, but I was going through DHgate to try to help my cousin find her dress and fell in love with some of those! Which site would any of you recommend?

Neither. Sites like lightinthebox offer knock offs and the success rate isn't great.

Yeah I wouldn't take the chance with either, especially since most of the dresses are knock offs of designer dresses.

Neither of those. Choose a reputable site like BHLDN, ModCloth, JCrew (I think all of their bridal dresses are on clearance if they still have any), ASOS, or David's Bridal if you must shop online. Trying on dresses in person first will help you find the silhouette that you like the best.

Those online sites like JJHouse, DHGate, and Light in the box are knockoffs of real designers and tend to be terrible quality. They also take quite a long time to arrive, if they ever do.

I'm looking at a bridesmaid dress from JJ's House. I found the actual designer's version and can see/try the same style in person, but the problem is JJ's has our color and the actual designer does not! :'(

I bought my dress from lightinthebox custom sized in white and it turned out beautifully. Only minimum alterations were required. Be prepared to pay duty.

They use different manufacturers so be sure to read all of the reviews, order early, and have the capability (time and money) to have a back-up plan in case things don't work out.

I just noticed your wedding date. If that's your real date any dress you order will likely not arrive in time. You might be stuck with off the rack dresses at this point.

Eeep! LindseyO has a good point OP. Try to get your dress ASAP so you can start alterations.

    Jen, I would recommend BHLDN.com

They ship pretty quickly and their prices are reasonable. Good luck!

Wow! You're cutting it really close! I would start trying to line up someone for alterations before your dress even arrives. I ended up having a really hard time finding a seamstress because I waited too long. I had David's Bridal order my dress three months before & it wasn't done at the seamstress until the day before my wedding ! Good luck!

I actually have a review of a Chinese knockoff dress I did on YouTube, and I am editing the video of it on me to show the issues with it. Out of the bag, it looked great. On, it doesn't fit, doesn't lace up properly, and is a hot mess. Unfortunately, places like DHGate have a horrible reputation for their dresses and even worse for trying to get a refund, while light in the box has a better reputation but still not the greatest.

I hope you didn't go ahead and order from one of them. If so, I suggest going ahead and looking at places like David's Bridal. You'll very likely need to.

ETA: to clarify, the first review I did was me initially receiving it and looking it over. The one I am editing is me actually trying it on.

I agree with what @MNA said. I honestly think you should try to find something off the rack at this point.

JjHouse also has a terrible reputation.

Definitely start looking for something off the rack. I hope you didn't spend your entire dress budget.
