I'm starting to want to leave in my gown

Finally mrs.jkr, on May 18, 2015 at 3:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

I have a going away dress ($20 Ross find) but I'm starting to think I want to go away in my dress. I mean I pod so much for it to only wear for 4 hours? Thing is... We're planning on going out to an early dinner right after we leave (lunch reception)... Would it be too strange to roll on up to the fanciest restaurant in town in a wedding gown and suit? If it's strange would it be TOOOO strange? (I'm kinda hoping if this happens we might get free dessert, even though that's not the motivation for it, is that terrible lol?) Also I would need to make sure that we fit in our little car. What do you think?

I'm wearing my dress as long as absolutely possible. No way any restaurant would make me change my mind. If it's too strange, WHO CARES? It's your wedding. Smiley smile I say wear it and rock it!

Your dress is gorgeous, but not too over the top to wear to a restaurant. I would absolutely wear it.

Yes wear it! And I would not judge you even if your only reason for wearing it was the free dessert!

Wear it! If all the high-schoolers can go eat in prom dresses and suits then you can eat in a wedding dress! :-) PS- We plan on going out to eat alone after too!

Y'all convinced me! (Although I didn't need that much of a push lol) plus, TBH, I think fh would love to actually "get me out of my dress" that night. Lol. I'll now use my going away as my rehearsal dress (was originally planning on white dressy shirt I have and jeans)

Wear it!! We are doing a 2 week event (one Saturday in my hometown, the next in his) and after the ceremony and dinner I am going bowling in my dress. The following Saturday I will be wearing my dress to do a Wine Walk before the reception. I don't think anything is too strange when it comes to having a great time and getting to wear the most expensive piece of clothing I will ever own!!!

When you make your reservation, tell them that it is a bride and groom coming directly from their wedding reception -- then dress the part. You'll turn every head in the restaurant, and you'll get plenty of unsolicited "congratulations". I can almost guarantee that you'll be served complimentary something -- champagne or dessert. I'd wear the dress. Just make sure you have a reservation and they know a bride will be coming. You don't want to sit in the lobby in that gown.

What's nice too is that we'd be going to dinner extra early (like 4:30) so it may end up being pretty private! (Although thinking of it, the Shakespeare plays here start at 6, so 430 is probably the time everyone will be going out. Lol either way I'll be rockin the dress!

DARN! the extra fancy place isn't open for supper until 5. Maybe we could take some extra pics with our photographer then? We have the time to either have 1.5 hours before the ceremony or 1.5 hours after the reception... Maybe a little of both? That way we can fill in time and get some extra pictures in the park
