How to not cry

So I've never been an emotional person, but every time I watch a wedding video or think about my dad giving me away, I start tearing up. I don't want to look like an uncontrollable sobbing mess on my wedding day. Any tips on how to stop the waterworks or at least keep them at bay? Help!

Not at all! It just means that you're an empath, much like myself, and there is nothing wrong with that!

I cry at the drop of a hat. I was definitely emotional on our wedding day. And I ugly cry.

First, if you ugly cry, let your photographer know. They both stayed away from head-on shots of me during the ceremony because I didn't want any of those. Second, we did a first look and I got some crying out of the way, which helped...a little.

I was tearing up pretty much during our entire ceremony, even while walking down the aisle. And I started crying twice during our vows (we wrote our own vows). If you're emotional, I honestly don't think there is a way to stop the waterworks completely. What helped keep my tears at bay was pausing and taking deep breaths to calm me. My first pause during my vows seemed like an eternity, but it was the only way to stop the crying, so don't be afraid to take long pauses. I also held a tissue the entire time and blotted (don't rub!!) my eyes. Also, be sure to have some makeup on hand for touch ups in case you mess up the makeup.

Girl, I wish I knew how to not cry! I'm such an emotional person and I feel things so powerfully, just hearing the song for my father-daughter dance makes me sob! Thinking about all those amazing moments that'll be at the wedding makes me sob, and I could barely write down a portion of my vows without getting teary. I'm getting a special handkerchief for me to use all day because I know I'll need it. I agree with everyone else, just taking deep breaths helps.

I guess trying to practice would help too? That's what I've been doing. Every time I catch myself tearing up when thinking about emotional wedding stuff, I practice composing myself, holding my head high and shoulders back and I smile Smiley smile I let the tears fall though! I let myself feel the emotion and let it show on my face, but I compose myself to make sure I'm not full-on ugly crying Smiley xd

Overall, I'd embrace the emotion, it's such a special moment in your life and just feel it as much as you can so you can hold onto that memory forever!Smiley heart

Girl same to all of this!!! I also like to mix to up and stab a fingernail into the tip of a different finger lol

IDK why it just comes easier to cry at other people's stuff but my own I feel tons of emotions I just don't show it as much!

I'm right there with you Ali! My father had a heart attack in May and has been trying to get his rhythm and blood pressure under control with not good results (don't drink, kids!). I'm staying positive and he knows how important he is to me so he's doing his best, he quit smoking and got a puppy! They will be there for us as always ❤️ As far as being a blubbering mess goes, we plan on doing a first look shoot so we're not flooding the aisle with our tears 😂
