How Many Venues did you look at?

How many venues did you look at before you chose your ceremony and reception locations? Or did you just "know" you were going to have it there?

The coordinator makes all the difference; a great one has good working relationships with the vendors, and the whole day is better.

I always ask my couples this; most of them looked at 6-10 before they picked theirs.

We looked at two ceremony locations the same day and ended up going with our first choice even though if was double the cost of the other. We loved it as soon as we drove up to it. It reminds me of a castle.

Our reception site we chose the first we looked at, had regrets later on and even though the invites were printed, we switched sites.

3 in person. The first one I absolutely LOVED and the 2nd was not so great. The 3rd my FH loved and when it came down to it I gave in and went with the one he wanted. In retrospect I'm glad that I did because the one I liked does 2 events at the same time and the one we went with only does 1. I'm thankful now that we'll have more privacy and the whole place to ourselves.

*edited because I am so excited about this ballroom!!!

I looked at two others-- one was Ridiculously Expensive and the snooty lady said, "We book up *years* in advance...." Well, I didn't even know I was going to get married "years in advance" so that excluded that place! Smiley sexy Another one I also thought was outrageously priced for what looked to me to be a ranch house-- nothing included, just the facility. In the end, I found a country club where you could get married on the hill by the copola, then walk down the hill and have the reception-- everything-- table linens, chairs, catering-- was included for a terrific price, so all I had to worry about was photog, DJ and florist. Perfect for me!

Two. I thought for sure the first one was going to be it. But they wouldn't let us try the food. There was no way I was going to have a wedding without trying any food. To chancy. So we went with our second option. SO glad we did.

One... I knew I wanted the venue we chose before we even got engaged. I was glad FH agreed when we went to see it together.

3...the first one we could have said yes to...but I just hated the lodging around it choices.

The 2nd one really could have been an ok choice (and might have been more comfortable for guests being everything was all inside and had hallways connecting-which might have been nice being it will be snowy cold weather).

Third...it just has such an incredible experience about it that I figured even if people had to trapes around in the snow that might be part of the memories about the place. They have beautiful lit paths at night, awesome food, brunches included in the package, a kids play zone that includes a bouncy house and a bouncy side...which I think the kids will love, and everyone is staying at cute little cabins on a lake together...I just think it will be an awesome weekend experience. But I would say the first lady we were with on the third site at first wasn't that excited about us...she definitely did not try to sell us on the venue-its off season and I think she would have preferred not to have a big event.

2 in person. I knew what I wanted (under $10k, indoor and outdoor option), so narrowing them down online was easy. I was ready to book after the first one, but FH wanted me to look at 1 more. Which I did....and when I asked what they would do if it rained, they said "wait it out". Um......no

8 or 9. and a lot more online.

We narrowed it down to 3 early on, and then went back and forth quite a bit. I am thrilled with the one we chose!

I've looked at a few online, but I knew from the beginning where I wanted to get married and have the reception. FH's friend owns a restaurant that is right by a little lake and it has a banquet room. We decided that's where it was gonna be, FH called his friend and his friend said it's not taken on your date, it's yours now Smiley smile Side note, I've only ever actually been in the banquet room once and it was only for less than a minute :/ lol

A couple online. 3 in person. (First was TOO rustic (would have been perfect/awesome if we didn't have elderly parents to worry about); Second was TOO urban - Greenhouse attached to a farmers market but in a busy part of the city - so the view out the window was cars; Third was perfect - historic house, great views of a park; but in the middle of the city so close to everythingSmiley smile

We looked at 5, but we chose the 2nd one pretty much as soon as we walked in. We just wanted to make sure the others couldn't compare and they couldn't.
