How do you pick, and agree, on a Honeymoon location and activities?

Melissa Sherman, on February 22, 2007 at 4:31 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3

I've been out of the country a lot, my fiance just went to Mexico for his first trip ever off US soil. He's a big history junkie, I love the sun, and we both enjoy learning about other cultures and their practices. So how have you and your fiances come to an agreement on where to go and how to spend your time for you Honeymoon?

My wife and I share the same travel desires, so our trip to Paris worked out well for us. There are many ways to come to a compromise, and both of you need to feel good about it. However you decide, keep some things in mind. The honeymoon is probably the first, but hopefully not last, time when you get to plan a vacation totally dedicated to spending time with your new spouse. The honeymoon is a time to unwind from all the planning and stress associated with the wedding, so work in some relaxation. History travel, museum touring, eco-tourism or world treking may be just as nice as a week on the beach, just don't forget to work in enough slack time to relax, spend time with each other and enjoy your new marriage.

My hubby wanted to go to Fiji, but since I'm not much of a beach person, we decided to go to Italy for our honeymoon. So after we picked out the destination, I left all the planning to my husband. I highly recommend this since you'll be way too busy w/ wedding planning to worry about honeymoon activities.

I also wanted to add that while we had a wonderful time in Italy, we were exhausted during and after the trip. We now understand why so many people recommend a beachy type of destination for honeymooners. You are going to be exhausted after a big wedding and will want to do nothing but veg around and relax on a beach afterwards and this is coming from a non-beach person.

My fiance and I first thought about going to a log cabin in the mountains in upstate NY, but we're on a budget. A rental car plus flights would leave no room for fun, plus we wanted to be pampered. So we agreed on NYC! I've never been, we both love snow, and we both want to go see Phantom or Les Miseralbes on Broadway! We're really excited about it!
