We met in first grade... James was my first crush! I thought he was so cute because he was the smallest boy in the class. Finally, I got the courage to ask my mom to make a play date for James and me at my house. He came over with his soccer ball, which was half the size of him, but I wanted nothing to do with it. Even then I didn't like to play sports. James was willing to teach me how to play, but I wasn't even willing to pretend to want to learn the sport to impress him. Despite our different interests, the play date was a success. Sometime later that year, I chased James in the cafeteria, trying to kiss him, but he pushed me away and that was the end of it. Little James Bass rejected me, so I moved on... twenty years later, by chance, we met again. James got over his love of soccer (thank goodness! I still don't care to play) and when I went to kiss him, he didn't run away:)
