Help! I need ideas for group activities on the beach!

Syd A., on October 24, 2011 at 2:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I tried to Google this, but kids games and youth group activities popped up..not helpful.

After our lunch reception, we want to head back to the beach for some fun and games. Anyone have cheap/inexpensive ideas for this? We'll have a max of 30 people - I doubt all of them will hang out with us at the beach though. The age range is wide too..which makes it more difficult!

We have ideas for soccer, football, volleyball, and some hula hoops. Any other ideas?

Maybe cards for the older guests who do not play sports?

Horseshoes or corn hole. Corn hole took off at a family birthday party I had. Even my great grandmother was playing. lol

Bring out the inner child with some buckets and sand castle building materials. I know I do that every time I am at a beach. Smiley smile

You might find you dont need much as people will sepnd a lot of time talking and catching up with old friends and family.

@Marie S: That sounds fun! I'm thinking about doing mad libs for us too. Did you use a website to make yours?

No I was cleaning out the basement and came across just a regular one from when my kids were younger. It was absolutely hilarious. I have some VERY well read highly educated friends who were snoockered and I mean snoockered who made playing this the funniest thing I've done in eons.

Ladderball is a fun beach/backyard picnic kinda game. I have a set and my friends & I play it every time we go to the beach.

These types of games always get everyone at our families' get togethers!

    bean bag toss.

washers. [although fun, at the beach, it is fairly difficult to find the washer if it doesn't make it in the box. put a good size blanket under/around it!]

    golf ball toss.

For our wedding weekend, we rented out a bunch of lake houses in the area and most of our friends and family stayed there. We brought games likes Scrabble and Backgammon, but in the end, all anyone really wanted to do was hang out around the firepit, toast marshmallows, drink and relax. I wouldn't put too much effort into organizing activities for people to do. Maybe have one or two options, but for the most part, I think people would rather just chill out and socialize.
