Has anyone successfully bustled a tulle dress?

AmandaMarie, on June 3, 2014 at 9:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

My dress is the AA Cinderella 205, so it has a tulle/glitter net skirt. I'm not really sure if it can be bustled and still look nice/hold all night.

A good seamstress can work wonders with any type of dress and/or material. Seek out a good seamstress and see what options she can give you.

With tulle I'd do a traditional bustle, meaning its hooked on the outside of your dress. It will help the tulle to lay flatter versus doing a french/under bustle.

My dress has 2 layers of tulle, 3 layers of crinoline, an overlay and then a fabric layer. My mom and I are attempting to bustle it ourselves. Mine has a lot more layers than yours and for mine we hvae to do 2 different bustles (one for the tulle layers and one for the fabric underneath. We're going to do French bustles (probably minimum of 5-points). If you don't know what I'm talking about, google is your friend Smiley smile

I'm relieved that it can be done, I'll definitely talk to the seamstress at the bridal shop I went to about the bustle. I'm mostly worried about it not holding or tearing the tulle.

I also think they may have a separate bustle point for the tulle and the under layer, so the tulle shouldn't have to hold all of the weight.
