Goodwill Outlet is where it's AT for brides-to-be!

Lisa, on April 14, 2015 at 3:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 38

I thought Dollar Tree was as cheap as it got; never did I think I was going to find great pieces for the wedding even cheaper! Shop your local Goodwill Outlet!

I walked away with a WHOLE bunch of great stuff for the wedding for just $5 (yes FIVE) dollars - TOTAL! Here's what that bought me:

-6 large vases (centerpieces)

-4 various fluted vases (candy bar)

-2 glass, 1 wire candlestick holders (candy bar or cake stand)

-2 strings of decorative round twinkle lights (head table or tent decoration)

I paid just $0.29 for each piece of glassware and $0.29 for each of the light strings/electronics! Would highly recommend checking Goodwill Outlet for twinkle lights, vases, candlestick holders and picture frames for weddings specifically before you buy them somewhere else.

This is what I've come across so far at my local thrift store. 8 wooden plates (uses for bread at each table) a wooden veggie tray, a wooden bucket, 2 lanterns (will be changing glass to white instead of the blue) 3 flickering real wax flameless candles, and an awesome candlestick I think in total I've paid $12 so far. I keep my reciepts in the bucket to show FH

Nice. I wish we had Good Will around here. We have Salvation Army, but they still charge like..a buck for each cup/glass/bowl/etc.

This really depends on where you live. In my area it's easier to just use coupons and get things brand new instead of going through the terribly overpriced thrift shops. We don't even have a Goodwill close by.

    You found some great stuff!

We have a few Goodwill stores in my area. I went to one just to look around and ended up buying about 10 gold/brass candlesticks to sit on the fireplace mantels at venue. The girl at the checkout looked at me like I was the crazy candlestick lady lol I am going to go check out the other stores to see if I can find anything else Smiley smile

I've been wanting to go to a goodwill outlet! I love regular goodwill but there isn't a outlet one close. I'm kinda jealous.

My fiance and I have been collecting glasses (mostly various wine glasses, some small tumbler type) and cases of various shapes and sizes for our rustic DIY reception. They have almost all come from the "Treasure House"- the local dump where they have a building of things that are still good but people don't want. We planned to used etching cream to personalize each glass and decorate each centerpiece with red burlap roses. I do also love their stores though!

I bought this stupid pumpkin at GW. It was one of my favorite decor items for the entire wedding. People actually commented on it. Total cost was about $3 or $4 if I remember correctly.

Sounds like most of you have had similar experiences which is awesome! I was so excited about the stuff I found that I just had to tell someone and FH doesn't get all that excited about all of the details unless it has to do with food or groomsmens' attire. Smiley smile

Honestly I probably wouldn't have looked here if it weren't for my mom's suggestion; I kind of had it in my mind previously that it would be a bunch of crappy stuff not worth looking at and in some cases that's true but there are definitely good finds to be had. We ended up spending a lot more on our venue and catering than we had planned for so every little bit we can save elsewhere can only help.

Nice! I got so much from Goodwill when we were planning on doing a candy buffet. Unfortunately, we changed our minds and now we're stuck with them :/

    Good finds!

I hit every Goodwill between me and Milwaukee to find the glass chimneys I needed for our centerpieces. The venue had 40 and we needed almost 70 so I knew I had to be resourceful. Different places online wanted $20plus for ONE of these chimneys. I found the 28 that I needed ranging from $2-4 each. Goodwill IS the place to get good deals for weddings Smiley smile
