For those doing gift bags for OOT guests...

KristenMeowza, on August 13, 2014 at 11:31 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

Contact the local visitor's website for the city you're getting married in and see if they have free travel brochures. I filled out a form on the Winchester city website and they sent me 20 visitor guides free of charge to include in my gift bags! They are 60 pages long (yet small enough to fit in the bags) and chock full of local info. Perfect for guests not familiar with the area.

@AndixLyn that's true. I have a lot of OOT guests and lots of them are staying 2 nights with time to kill, so it makes sense. But I included a snack, mouthwash, energy drink, and headache meds in each one, so it's kinda like a mini hangover cure. Smiley winking

I am making up an OOT guest bag for the people staying in the hotel that had rooms blocked off. I made up a three-fold with directions, a thank you, the program, and to download Wed Pics.. Since it is Fair weekend, I contacted the local fair and got myself a promotional page (probably 30 i havent counted) and I will be bringing the tourism guide for the city where the wedding is and the tourism guide that I publish here locally where I live.

I am doing OOT guest gift baskets. I am paying for the rooms so I will have access before they get there. I am doing baskets with cookies, chips, fruit, whatever beverage they will be drinking. I gave them a gift certificate to the local coffee shop and I contacted the tourism center and they gave me a coupon booklet too. If there are kids involved I have put in things for them like coloring books and crowns, bubbles, and some candy. For teenagers I included a gift certificate for the putt putt and arcade center that is across the street from the hotel. They will be invited to the rehearsal dinner and breakfast is offered with the hotel room. Oh yeah my one Aunt travels with her dog and so does my Dad so I out doggie treats in there basket along with poop baggies. I hope they take the hint LOL. I have had a lot of fun thinking of stuff to put in them. I will have fun assembling them.

I have a destination wedding so I am giving out welcome bags at the welcome dinner. When I go to see my venue in September my mom told me to bring back 50 copies each of activities brochures, national park maps, city guides and possibly a restaurant guide. My luggage on the way home is going to be really heavy. I think I might just try to media mail it all home.

Thanks! I was gonna go visit the visitors' center in person, but I'm on the phone with them now. This will be so much easier!

@Madeline Cool! Cloverdale Barn. It's a sheep and cattle farm on 622. Very pretty!

Woohoo just got my bags yesterday! I got really cute little purple bags from amazon and made stickers on VistaPrint. They look really cute and I'm definitely going to get visit Philly things to throw in!
