It's going to be tough for you to find inexpensive fake orchids that you can submerge. Most of the artificial ones will bleed/fade if they're put in water. Not to mention the fact that most of the artificial flowers will float, so it'll be hard to get them to sink without a bunch of extra work. I found these preserved blue orchids on Save-On-Crafts: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/blueorchids.html. They might look nice if you just put them in a vase without filling it with water.

If this is the orchid you are looking for, you will not find quality ones in silk because they just don't make them and the low quality ones are expensive. The ones made will bleed in water. Its better to get the real ones or get the silk and not do water.

I would likely do real ones, the fake ones like they said will bleed and also will likely need tons of weights! have you thought of maybe getting real ones and clipping them to float in water? you could do a floating bowl of candles instead of the taller vase... and use these, that would look nice

They aren't colored. It's a real flower. I did blue hydrangea fakes in a vase, just to play and there was a little water in the bottom and the water turned a dirty nasty brown from the stem.

I believe there is a solution you can purchase that will help the flower stay "in stasis" for a few hours. Call the florist who is creating your bouquets and bouts and ask her if she can help you with this problem.

For some reason I want to say that I either read, or a florist told me, if you put glycerin in the water, that keeps the flowers from bleeding. However, I really don't even know what glycerine is or where you would get it. But a professional florist would know exactly what to do.

That is the exact flowers we had but we did real ones and they had to be spray painted that exact color. I agree you will need a florist help I don't see you finding these anywhere but a florist. here is a pic of my bouquet with the orchids.
