DIY Zebra Centerpieces

Audra, on September 29, 2011 at 4:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

Here's my first attempt. I will def. use more pink ice and volatile candles scattered.

Should I lose the black rocks?

Should I add white petals?

How can I fix the top; maybe lose the bow? Trying to tie in the zebra theme.

This is on a budget and a non-floral centerpiece.

I think the bow needs to go. It looks like an afterthought. Also what size and shape are your tables? I'm not loving the mirror either. Perhaps, you can find some Zebra material and make a runner.

I would to a tall one and have a ribbon tied around and don't add petals and just add votive candles around

No, I like the bow! It just needs to be centered and fixed better. The vase also needs to be centered on the mirror - it doesn't look like it is. I think the white petals scattered around the mirror would make it gorgeous.

I like the 2nd pic elizabeth g. posted. You can do it with the zebra print instead of the damask. I think that would look great. They also have zebra print duck tape...sounds silly but would make this project super easy.

I love the zebra bow but it's a bit big and kind of blocking the the floating candle. You can either make the bow smaller or just simply have the ribbon wrap around. I love the colors. Are you going to put more gems around it? It looks a little bare because the mirror is big, if not you should use a smaller mirror. I love where it's going- can't wait to see the end result Smiley smile

I like the runner idea but if you want you can do zebra print candle holders like these http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Candle-Holders-Candelabra-Leopard/dp/B002WPSK1M Just a suggestion to add your zebra print.. I dont care for the bow but if you had just ribbon tight against the rim of the vase would look better..

I like the idea of the ribbon being tight against the rim rather than the bow it will make it alot easier to make them uniform that way too. Maybe instead of the mirror you could us a black charger plate... this will also contain your gems so they won't be all over. The zebra runner is a great idea too and If you like the tall ones that elizabeth posted you can do tissue paper kissing balls for the top so you don't have to buy flowers. Its a time consuming DIY but you have plenty of time.

The tablecloth will be black and I ordered fushia tablerunners because zebra runners were pricy. I'm getting zebra napkins to goblet fan out of champagne classes. I'm still 50/50 on the bow. The floating candle is a hot pink rose candle. I will be using more pink ice and it will be centered. I put this together quickly for my parents. I like the size and in love with the price but I know it needs work. Smiley smile thanks ladies for the suggestions.

I like it, I think white rose petals scattered around instead of the pink ice would give it a more elegant look. But I think it's beautiful for your theme. Good job!

    Hi Audra,

I'd remove the bow.. and keep your centerpeice simple. Because you are having a fushia table runner and you are already getting a zebra napkin for your champagne glasses the bow woud over due the simplicity of your centerpeice.

What you can do instead of water in your vase you can fill it with gel crytals (i've included a pic below) Its a great idea and affordable easy to dye to any colour (you can dye some black and keep the rest white, then put your candle on top ( instead of pink candles use a white candle) It will look very chich and the fushia table runner will add the Hot flare to your theme !

I hope this helps, Congratulations and Good Luck! Smiley laugh

If you are using pink runners, I would skip the pink crystals scattered on the table. Since you are using zebra napkins, how about using a zebra napkin under the centerpiece instead of the mirror? I would also skip the bow and just use a flat ribbon around the top. You could also do a similar look on your votives using a wider pink ribbon and the thin zebra on top. I would also skip the petals, using a zebra print is quite bold and nontraditional (not a bad thing!), so adding the more traditional (boring) petals would be a contradiction of style. Keeping it fun and funky will pull the whole look together...so no bows!
