DIY...Tissue pomanders...trying to save money with the florist *PICS*

KenWay, on May 15, 2011 at 8:06 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 24

So I looked at my florist bill that is due June 28 and noticed I still owed about $900~! I didn't think I would be able to come up with $900! So...I sat down and thought about what I could cut. I really wanted her to do the large carnation pomanders for me but I thought, forget it I will just make the pomanders myself.

By me cutting the pomanders and tackling this DIY tissue pomander project it took $540.00 of my florist bill! AMAZING! So I did large ones for my centerpieces and small ones with ribbon as chair markers for the ceremony.

Here are pics of my mock-up / DIY table set up. It takes like 2 hours to just make one large one though! My florist is still doing all the bridal party flowers and some other short centerpieces for me but this was so worth cutting and doing on my own! Hope you like.

I think they look fantastic! Where did you find the instructions for making them? I was thinking I might do some floral ones, but as you know, they are really expensive.

@Michelle, Floral ones are expensive! I mean I only had 5 on my list to get made! They were charging me $100 each for them. But this tissue poms supplies only cost $40!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiley smile Well worth the work, and a good sub instead of silk flowers.

I found instructions on project wedding: http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/diy-tissue-pomanders

I have blue and turquoise ones for my ceremony chairs. I think they are awesome, especially when you take the money you save into account.

This was my inspiration here below. I wanted centerpieces like the one on the left so I was willing to pay for it until this weekend LMAO.

Now I have what I wanted as far as the look but for less!

Www.nashvillewraps.com is a great website to buy tissue paper. You can get 480 sheets of a solid color for about $13.00, depending on what size paper you are buying.

The pomanders look great! I made 18 for our outdoor ceremony...and you are right- it is A LOT of busy work! They seem to take forever...folding and folding... but well worth it!
