We're going with glow sticks! I've also seen bubbles if it's a daytime sendoff.

Oh my gosh, I just did the Necessary or Not questions and it led me to start thinking about this! Everyone I know has also done sparklers so I'm stumped about what to do for my exit, if anything... I'm taking notes here!

Rice is not allowed it kills the birds. The birds try to eat it the rice expands in their throats due to wetness. Wich suffocates them.

Actually, I believe you're thinking of bread. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/against-the-grain/ a quick google search told me that rice doesn't harm birds, and actually often times, birds eat wild rice during their migrations. Rice also takes a long time to expand if you're just soaking it in water. "The notion that rice absorbs moisture, and would therefore swell up to many times its original size in the crop of a bird and thereby rupture avians from within, is a mistaken one based upon our culinary experiences with rice. We typically boil rice prior to eating it, and rice grains do absorb a fair amount of moisture during that process. But otherwise rice absorbs moisture only very slowly, and the interior of birds is not nearly as hot nor as moisture-suffused as a pot of boiling water — any uncooked rice eaten by birds is digested or excreted long before it can pick up enough water to expand in size to the point of causing injury to them." - a quote from the snopes article posted.

It also doesn't swell up in their throats otherwise it would be way easier to cook rice at home! :]

You all will laugh, but our venue is an historic inn ( we ares mini-mooning with them over Christmas), so my fiancé , hubby then, is going to pick me up like he's going to carry me up the staircase. Its a beautiful staircase, but not wide enough for me to be carried up. Lol. He'll walk behind me and help with my huge train. Should make nice pics.

If you want to be eco friendly you could have guests throw flower petals or leaves. I also heard as an alternative to a send off you can have a last dance. Some people just ride off in a cute getaway vehicle with friends waving them off.

Would love that but there is no way we have money for that. That is awesome though. We are having our honeymoon at Disney and taking our pic in front of the castle with the fireworks

I’m trying to decide what to do for ours. It will be dark by the time we leave, but we can’t do sparklers at our venue. I’ve seen an idea to hole punch leaves to make your own natural confetti. I’m not sure how well that would photograph at night though.

We were going to do glowsticks, but by the time we were ready to leave almost all our guests were gone, so we didn’t do it.

I wanted to do a helicopter too (Our venue has a helipad) but FH put his foot down on this one. Smiley sad It’s the only thing he’s been a hard “no” on, so I guess I gotta honor his wish. We’ll probably just do the sparklers and ride away in my new car. (Current lease is up Oct 1 and wedding is Oct 12. Ugh..bad timing and one more thing to stress about!)
