CONFUSED ON WHAT COLORS TO CHOOSE

krystal, on September 12, 2012 at 12:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

HELLO LADIES!

IM HAVING A ISSUE .. I HAVE THREE COLORS THAT IM STUCK ON. MY FAVORITE COLOR IS PURPLE AND HAS BEEN SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL AND SO EVERYONE SAYS I SHOULD DO PURPLE. IM CONFUSED BECAUSE ALTHOUGH I LOVE PURPLE I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING OUTSIDE OF WHAT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WOULD EXPECT FROM ME. IM HAVING A SUMMER WEDDING SO I WAS THINKING ORANGE OR TURQUOISE. SO MY QUESTION IS .. WAS IT DIFFICULT FOR ANY OF YOU LADIES TO DECIDE ON YOUR COLORS FOR YOUR WEDDING?

Well, my Ghana took one of my colors away and said he wanted red, so I made it work with purple ( I live to color too). I just did it so that my colors work. I have more of a plum with a cherry red.

During the wedding planning process I changed my colors at least 4 times. I went from my favorite color, to a theme color, then a random seasonal color, finally I settled on a color that would look good on all of my BMs and not clash with the venue. Smiley smile If you want purple go with purple, you don't have to have it as your main color it can be an accent color with little touches throughout the decorations. Smiley smile

Not difficult exactly...At first I was dead set on peacock colors, plum, emerald green, blue, and a chocolate brown. But I also wanted a retro feel, and the date we got with our venue was October 26 and I love Halloween so I wanted to throw that in there, and I just COULD NOT figure out how to put it all together.

I started doing some inspiration searches and found a really elegant Halloween spread that was purple, black, and orange, and I changed my colors.

I am SO HAPPY I did. Because now, everything I buy I can re-use to have a Halloween party!

I just knew i didn't want black and red (that was my first wedding colors)

and i didn't want roses. soooo where to go from there?

I went to pintrest and started looking at inspiration boards. I like blues to i fell in love with the tiffany blue and white and black theme colors.

I am going with more of a aqua/turquoise color with white and black. it was chocolate instead of black but FH veto'd that lol.

Go with what you like, what you want. not what other people think you should have. Orange and turquoise are cute color combos! You could even throw in hot pink! lol There have been brides with hot pink and orange combos as well, i know they are hiding in here some where Smiley smile

Do you have your venue yet? That should come before choosing the colors.

My honeys fave color is purple, and I wanted a metallic color for the second color to get some shine in there since the men have swords so I picked silver as I'm quite partial to it Smiley smile Then we just made the complementary colors ivory and black!~

I am having the same quandry, first I wanted aqua/tiffany blue and chocolate but my FH nixed that because he hates UNC and the aqua was too close with that...and since he's pretty much let me do whatever I want I'll let him have that one, it didn't mean that much to me...so now I have an idea, but I wonder if it's too bizarre...I am a huge Packers fan (born and raised in WI) and he is a huge Steelers fan (born there and season ticket holder for 20+ years) and we love college ball as well and go to at least 4 Steeler games per year plus the playoffs and we went to the super bowl in Dallas and he went to the one in Detroit (that was before we were together)....so now I am thinking it would be super cool to use our green yellow and black colors for the wedding...a nice deep forest green and then as deep a yellow as I can get and still like I think or a light yellow since it would still be a nod to our teams...I think the colors could work really well together, any thoughts or advise?

It took me a while . Primarily because I wanted to do a certain theme. While in Vegas, FH and I went to the Venetian Hotel. I was in love with the architecture (sp) of the bldg and everything Venice & Italian. However, when I searched for Venetian style weddings, the results werent as appealing so. I went to my plan B and FH and I will be going to Venice for our HM.

Luckily DH and I favorite color is royal blue. So it was pretty easy to pick the colors which were royal blue white silver. Then like two months before the wedding we added yellow. I think all three colors you like in the forum will actually be beautiful if you know how to tie them all in together or get a decorator who knows his/her stuff. Hope this advice helps.

Are you set on a color? We didn't do one, however we also don't have a BP.

Our theme is vintage/rustic so all the hues that go with that are in/around our decorations.

If your theme has multiple colors, you could choose to not have BM match and just do the same style dress in differnt colors.

It's a little out of the box but it works great for us.

I looked through the colours of davids bridal to see which ones i liked, I came up with a deep red and black, and a royal blue and black, I kept going back and forth, we went to a wedding last summer and there colours were the same red and black so that made our decision easier Smiley smile But i just love the royal blue with the black

My all time favorite color is red. It might be a sick obsession. I mean anything that is red I buy. my kitchen appliance with the exception of the big stuff because I wasn't allowed to do it is red. But since I am having a fall wedding I am using all of fall lovely colors. But we choose Brown and Burnt Orange for our two main colors... and red took a back seat ... I think that my family is going to be surprised when they walk in not to see red "throw up" all over the place.

I think what ever you decide to do will be lovely!!! Its your day go with purple if you want!!!
