Changing hair & makeup stylist... Advice needed!

Kimberly1022, on November 17, 2014 at 12:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I'm getting married in March and have had my hair & makeup stylist booked for some time now, however, as much as I like her, I'm not 100% happy. I pretty much booked with her bc her pricing was cheaper than all other places and I didn't want my bridesmaids to have to pay a lot, and she did do a decent job. I was looking recently at other places and found one that did Amazing work and I really want to get a trial to see how they do. I'm starting to feel like I picked the other place solely thinking about everyone else except myself and I feel like I should be 100% happy with the way I look in my wedding day. Is it wrong to go for a trial with another place and if I like them cancel with the original place? I'd be losing $50 but I think it's worth it if I'm gonna be happy. If so, how do I cancel? What do I say?

You said you have found someone you like better. be honest. its business. also be aware of the extra cost for the BP, if they are doing makeup & hair as well.

Unfortunately I don't think there's any nice way to say you are firing them for another MUA. Being blunt and tactful is probably the best way to go about it. "I want to be 100% honest because I respect you as an artist. While I like the MU you provided, I feel that such and such artist was able to recreate my vision exactly. Again, I think you are fabulous and thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with me."

Andi, I am paying for a portion of the BMs and I already asked them if they'd be okay with possibly paying a little more, everyone was fine with it, thank god! Lol but you're right, It is business and I have to be happy.

There was no contract, just gave her $50 to book the date. That's why I wanna get the trial done with the new place asap so if I do cancel she still has time to rebook with someone else
