Catering Update

Chantel, on August 18, 2015 at 12:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Some of you may remember my earlier thread with the rude caterer: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/maybe-not-the-best-way-to-secure-new-clients/ff55f8db3ac3f899.html

Needless to say, we did not book him. We've been looking at two other companies. Both do scheduled tastings. One is out of our budget by about $15pp...and the other is right in budget. This one that fits our budget doesn't have a tasting until January 2016, so she offered to pay for our meal if we came to eat at her restaurant. The restaurant only serves breakfast and lunch, so we didn't get to taste the exact food we would be having at the wedding, but I definitely enjoyed my meal and I was very appreciative of her doing that for us. FH has more of a refined taste than me, so while he enjoyed it, it didn't blow him out of the water either. We are considering booking this caterer and then doing the tasting in January. She has positive reviews for catering services and food. What would you guys do?

I would probably book and move on. Even if it didn't blow your fiancé away, I'm sure dinner will be a step up from lunch or breakfast and if you enjoyed, your less food oriented guests probably will too. Personally, if I was satisfied with what we've tasted so far and knew there would be another tasting in the future, I would be happy to get this vendor squared away.

I agree with Jeanne. At this point, I would probably just book them and be happy that it's one more thing off the list.

Thanks ladies. That's pretty much my feeling too. I suppose if the tasting in January was absolutely horrendous, then we could look at finding another one, but I am not too worried about it.

I was going to say the same thing Chantel- if the tasting in Jan is really terrible book someone else you would still have a few months.
