Candy Buffet vs Photo Booth vs Something Else

Aimee R (formerly Aimee B), on April 28, 2012 at 6:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 45

So ladies, wondering which you find to be "more" successful?

Or have you tried something different that was a HUGE hit?

Neither have me THRILLED but I feel like we need SOMETHING.

Thanks as always. Smiley smile

We were going back and forth between the candy buffet and the photo booth. I would say it all really depends on your budget, we are on a smaller budget so we opted to do the candy buffet instead of the photo booth

I'm not too constricted with the budget, just really like the originality factor and it to be unique. I mean both are "neat" to me but I'm not wow'd by them. Smiley sad

I honestly did not want to spend my $$ on anything that either didn't wow me or that did not have a useful function. So if neither one of these impresses you, I would save the money. You can certainly have a great wedding without either :-)

However, if you're going for something original, go for the photo booth. Candy bars are pretty and I really appreciate them, but I can get my candy myself. The same is not the case with photo booth. But seriously, if you're not impressed, think about whether you want to spend the $$$.

I have never been to a wedding with a candy buffet. Ours is coming up so hopefully our candy buffet is a hit. I have been to a wedding with a photobooth and I can say it was a blast. FH and I had a ton of fun putting the silly props on and taking silly pictures. There were guests in it all night at her wedding.

I vote photo booth. The candy buffet doesn't wow me and I agree with @mrs s, I can buy candy myself. Plus the 2 weddings I have been to with candy bars, the kids jacked all the candy and left the kinds I didn't like lol.

I vote photo booth, but if you're looking for something different/original don't settle for the photobooth.

Do you have a theme we can help you think of something that fits it?

I'm doing both, With the photo booth, they have props, and a guest book with all your guest that take pictures and leave a cute message for us and also with this company, all my guest can upload their photos into twitter, facebook, or e-mail! PLus they also get a take home strip of pictures. I payed 550$ for the photobooth. With the candy/ dessert table, what I am doing is buying those little white take out boxes, so people have a little snack for later! That will be free due to a co-worker trying to add to his culinary skills and he's an amazing baker. So I'm excited, it didn't cost me too much and these also serve as favors. Done and easy!

Pearl are you using Viral Booth? We got a quote from them and they were the only ones who could do the Facebook, Twitter and uploads. I actually didn't want that idea because I had this fear of people trying to log in to their accounts via the booth after a few drinks and oy oy oy.

I have been to a photobooth wedding, it was neat to do, but I wasn't super impressed. I mean fun yes, wow, eh. (to me)

I think the idea of a candy/cookie bar is neat too, especially because I love how creative you can get with your decorations and such but again I'm not super excited about. I've actually never been to a wedding with a candy bar.

I just wish there was something different that I could come up with.

I mean the booth is "fun" but the buffet I like more for the look and way you can jazz it up.

I wish something really just wow'd me.

Cartoonist? or those artist that do a live painting of your first dance etc.. Girl as long as you have your guest shaking their butts, that's all you need to wow your guest.

FH and I love candy and we both love having our photo taken, so we are doing both.

    Both are pretty popular now.

If you want to uniqueness - try giving either one a spin & do whatever you think would work best:

    - a themed photobooth. Hollywood theme, maybe?

    - instead of a candy buffet, a dessert table with pies? a s'mores bar. a popcorn bar.

Jamie thank you for the suggestions!

I like both spins. I guess I like to be "different" but there isn't much out there when it hats to fit the scale of a wedding.

No petting zoo I suppose. Smiley winking

I see you two are drinking a milkshake. Maybe you could have a signature drink, or a "soda fountain" type of thing. What about a creative first dance, then maybe dance lessons for your guests to get them involved. Maybe some fun trivia questions to get people thinking & involved as groups. Then there's always karoke.

Now that I've looked at your profile, you look like you are really into the 50's vibe, and would assume that would also be part of your wedding. What about a hula hoop contest. Or have someone there taking black & white photos with an old fancy camera instead of the photo booth. Instead of a candy bar, do bubble gum in in one of those old time dispensers.
