Cake or No Cake??

Jess IsZen, on October 12, 2017 at 6:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 35

Hi everyone, :-)

I wanted to get some thoughts if possible. We are not really cake fans...so would the cake be missed? lol. What have you seen or heard of a couple serving at their wedding other than the traditional cake? I think I want to do something different :-). Please share your thoughts or suggestions, thank you!

As long as you have some form of dessert to satisfy your guest's possible sweet tooth, I don't see why there'd be a problem!

My friend did an assortment and everyone loved it. They had a small cake, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and local homemade ice cream.

I personally love cake at weddings, and it's the only time in my life I could have a beautiful tiered cake, so I definitely wanted to do one. BUT as long as there is dessert of some sort (and enough for everybody), you're good! :-) I have seen cupcakes, pies, donuts, sundae bar, cookie table, an assorted dessert table...you can get really creative with it!

I love cake so I say serve it. Cupcakes are a pretty popular alternative. I've also seen people do a desert bar with various sweets as a substitute for cake.

My friend had a variety of petite fours at hers and she said it was a huge hit. They were all devoured by guests. The display looked awesome too. If only I had a picture....

We're doing pies, cupcakes and cannoli. I just went to a wedding that had a cake (came with the venue) but they also brought in different types of cookies. I spent most of my time by the cookie table and didn't have any cake.

We did a whole sweets table! Mini cheesecakes, cake bites, cannoli, macaroons, and we cut a 6" cake.

I'm doing a small cake about 2 maybe 3 layers and a trail of cupcakes. We are not cake fans either, but I love me some cupcakes. Lol

One of my daughter's is doing a brownie cake because neither of them like cake. The other is doing a 4 tiered wedding cake because she is more traditional.

I personally am wanting to do the cake cutting and get the topper and all that.. but I am also trying to keep the cost down if I can.. i have seen that people do donuts, cupcakes, pies, even a small cake with some cupcakes as well

We did a small round to cut for photos, but we served hot brownies with ice cream for dessert. It was very well received by our guests, and we only had a couple left even though we ordered a lot of extras!

Personally I love cake so I'm always disappointed when I go to a wedding and there isn't one. Ive been to a wedding with an assortment of gourmet donuts and another where they had cake pops, chocolate covered pretzels and rice krispie treats. As much as I love cake I totally get not wanting cake if you don't like it. Fortunately there are so many fun options now.

Neither one of us like traditional cake but we love coffee cake so a tiered coffee cake it is!
