Cake and punch reception

Happy Monday everyone! So FH and I had to trim down our plans and just have a small cake and punch reception immediately following our ceremony. I'm blank as to where to start. We're going to have a small cake to cut and cupcakes for guests, sandwiches catered as well as salads, and sparkling drinks with a possibility a sweet table. It will take place in our church's fellowship hall so there will be no alcohol. We've planned a 2 o'clock ceremony. Any additional ideas or advice would be appreciated.

    Sounds absolutely fine, as long as your church has a requirement that you can't have alcohol. Make sure you take into account any special diets among your guests, but otherwise this sounds lovely.

    Sounds great. The only thing I would say is there is a different atmosphere with most cake/punch receptions- don't expect dancing into the night or anything. It will probably be short and sweet.

    Just make sure you have non-sparking drinks too.

    Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the feedback. Nothing alcoholic, Arnold palmer, lemonade, and punch, as well as different sodas and sparkling cider.

    It's fine, but keep the celebration to 2.5 hours, max (as in, it's over by 5:00 PM)...and be sure that your invitations are very clear as to what the guests should except at the reception (i.e., "cake and punch to follow").

    Sounds great. This is the way weddings used to be. Elaborate, costly weddings are just 25-30 years ago.
