Bridesmaid's Shoes- Vent, Need Advice

Trisha, on August 2, 2015 at 2:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

A few months ago I let the girls know they could pick whatever shoes they wanted to wear and felt comfortable in, I just wanted them to be gold and strappy. They could be flats or heels. We're now 3 weeks out and one bridesmaid has yet to get anything. I texted her today and she said "I think I'm just going to go with the ones I already have" The shoes she's referring to are a pair of wedges in which the straps almost look silver. I told her two weeks ago I didn't think those would match well with what I had in mind or what the other girls were wearing. She said she doesn't think she'd ever wear gold strappy shoes again so she doesn't want to spend the money.

What do I do? Do I send her a ton of links to $20 shoes that would be just fine and hope she gets the hint? Do I just buy her a pair of shoes? Although I think that would offend her. Or do I just remind her I already said no to those?

Or am I being a bridezilla and say fuck it, she can look dumb if she wants to not match?

I know 6pm.com has usually great cheap options if you want to send her that way.She should have told ya sooner if she had an issue with it instead of freaking you out last minute!

I would remind her that you already said no to those. I would also remind her about what you said and give her the choice to follow your requests or to be attending the wedding as a guest.

Thanks Alexis, I might send her that link. I saw some on Target's website too that would be under $20.

Thanks Mrs. F, but I'm definitely not eliminating a bridesmaid and very close friend just because we disagree on shoes.

If you're willing to buy the shoes, at this point it might just be easiest and less of a battle to say "Hey BM, I don't think those shoes will work. Do you like these (Target link)? If so, I'll order some for you. What size?" Not ideal at all but at 3 weeks out it might be better to just do it.

I agree with @Stephanie.. Even though you send her links (as hints to buy) - she may not buy them. It would probably be easier to send her a link, ask her if she likes it and then order for her (of course in her size).

I wouldn't buy them for her because you didn't offer to buy them for everyone else. Bridesmaids have one job to do and that's what the bride orders and stand next to her. It's not that hard. Send her the link to target shoes, tell her the silver ones are a no, you're sorry she won't wear them again and get over it. I had to wear $50 white glitter Toms for a wedding and while I know there are a lot of toms lovers out there I hate them, but I wore them. She has to deal with it

I would not worry about it. Wedges aren't exactly strappy sandals, but to me, they would be close enough. IMO, as long as shoes are in the same color ballpark (light or dark), and the same general category, no one will notice.

Very annoying... Are they wearing long dresses? Because if they are, I would just say forget it. No one is going to see them. If the dresses are short, I would do what Stephanie said and send a link and say you are buying them.

Personally I wouldn't notice bridesmaids shoes and I would say let it go, it'll be fine and easier for everyone involved.

I have no opinion on if you buy them for her or anything, but I will say that I disagree with the ladies saying let it go and let her wear the ones she already has. I think if her shoes will obviously stand out from the others she shouldn't wear them and its rude of her to not just go buy some.

Mrs. A & J, I don't think they're even close to the same color. They look silver, not gold.

NJBride They're not long dresses. I even let them pick their own dresses and this BM also was the last to pick hers. Way past the deadline just because she was being indecisive.

I just feel like I've been super lenient on everything so far, it's really frustrating that she won't work with me on this one thing.

Oof, yeah, with short dresses I don't blame you at all. You could talk to her about it, but I'm not a confrontational person and I think it would just be easier to buy the damn $20 shoes for her.

Trisha I don't blame you for being frustrated. My bridesmaids get to pick their own short, navy dresses and nude shoes all of their choice. They could go to target or Nordstrom. Nude shoes aren't hard to find (neither are gold) seriously she needs to suck it up like the rest of your bridesmaids did.

Trisha..some people like to be difficult just to be difficult. We are 20 days out, and she is taking your attention away from more important things. If you ignore her and not give her all this attention, maybe she will get her act together and follow the program, if not oh well. She will be the one looking crazy, not you. Focus on something else and let it go.
