Jennifer, on April 24, 2013 at 4:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

Yup. You can officially I'm an unconventional bride. I know my current dress size from the wedding I'm in this week, so I ordered mine via www.lightinthebox.com

I bought a veil AND tea length wedding gown, INCLUDING shipping for....

Ready?

I don't know if you can handle it....

$124.90!

ARGGGGG......this is a Chinese knockoff site, and while I wish you the best, I think there are a lot of red flags to pay attention to along the way.....

Jennifer have a back up plan in place or a good seamstress just in case. The Chinese knockoff sites are known to really screw some brides over. While I hope and pray you aren't one of them I always feel its better to be prepared for the what ifs. Some brides have luck with these sites others well not so good. Read the forums here to see what I'm referring to. Good luck though Smiley smile

Oh wow. Can't say I'm completely shocked because I knew it sounded too good to be true, but I am just gonna see what happens. At the end of the day, I know a TERRIFIC seamstress and I know there's so many other things to stress about. I really appreciate the concern girls. I hope for the best, but now I will def be keeping my fingers crossed!

I got mine online but I have to get it taken in (it's a size 26 and I'm a 24/22), and it's over a foot too long for me. Otherwise the dress is gorgeous and I spent $179 on it, online through Amazon at a place called ArtWedding. I got it in 3 weeks! Smiley smile

Oh that's amazing!!! Better to take it in than out in that regard! Congrats! I'm hoping for great news like that to share!

I'm assuming yours was an American company though right?

Ooh I like the shoulder embellishment Smiley smile

And if you're going to order from a Chinese site, lightinthebox is probably one of the better options. I don't think you need to worry.

I hate to be negative about it because I truly wish you the best. I have been in the formal wear business for tuxedos for about 6 years now. I strongly urge everyone to stay away from buying dresses from prom, bridesmaid, mother, and bridal dresses from online. These sites are nothing but bad news. They will show you amazing pictures, but when you get your dress it will be the wrong color, the wrong size, not the dress at all you purchased and once they got your money they will absolutely do nothing about it to fix it and you can't return it. I wish you all the best though, maybe you will be the exception.

Thank you all Smiley smile I am now afraid of that Brittany, but I'm definitely one to throw a tantrum until I get my $$ back if it's that bad. So far, they've had excellent (American) customer service. I'm hoping it's good news to share with you girls. Thanks again.

I am with the girls. I will hope that best! I ordered a dress from them and didn't end up wearing it because it wasn't worth spending the $ to fix it. Though, I SINCERELY hope the best for you...I know some brides who have great things to say about them!

Be careful! Most of the time, those gowns do not look like what you ordered and the quality is poor. I hope that it works out for you.

Even if you have no problem demanding money back, they've been known to ignore all refund requests once you receive the dress--their customer service is great until then.
