Anyone thinking of going the satin slipper route for wedding shoes?

Jessa, on February 22, 2010 at 10:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 46

I am strongly considering this. one of my friends got married last year and wore satin flats bc her FH was actually a little shorter than her. although im not in that situation, i have to admit that im not so great at wearing heels! what do you think?

I'm going to wear them but still have a pair of heels for photos and the garter toss. Pretty much I'll wear the heels whenever you can see my feet and wear the flats at all other times.

My FH is almost a foot taller than me- So I will definitely be wearing heels! But I do think I need to find some slippers or flip flops to wear later on when my feet inevitably start to hurt!

I want to wear them too. Walmart is a great idea to get them. The place I got my dress from has them but they are expensive. I can not do heels at all.

FH and I are the same height. But (1) he loves me in heels and (2) I'm in heels 6 days a week. The only flats I wear are flip flops in the summer and sneakers when I workout. I would probably trip wearing flats down the aisle b/c I'm just used to walking in heels. My wedding shoes are 3.5 inch heels.

I'm definitely going to. FH is only a few inches taller than me and I have never worn heels around him ever cuz I don't wanna feel like a giant lol. Also, I suck at wearing heels. So definitely will be searchin for some cute flats.

Well it depends on what type of flat you are looking for. Like I said, I'm wearing heels but I picked these up at Dillard's a couple of months ago in case I get tired of my heels. These are SO me and will be a welcome addition to my wardrobe. Definitely taking them on the honeymoon.

@ladylee - those are adorable! i wish i could do something like that, but itll be massachusetts in december...not so practical!

i have been googling a few sites but so far nothing really eye-catching. i def want to do this, though. my mom is trying to talk me out of it, saying that heels elongate you and are much more flattering, even when hidden under a dress. i say...if im going to trip and fall flat on my face as i walk down the aisle in them...that's prob LESS flattering. Smiley amazing

@hardee, yes I bought them locally. They had just come in when I bought them I couldn't even find them on the website. I don't know if they've added them online yet. I haven't ordered from Her Room but I have seen a couple other brides that have. I need to order something soon b/c my dress should be here in a few weeks. If there is a David's Bridal local to you, they carry long line bras and I think their prices are pretty reasonable.

@Jessica, if it's going to be December in Massachusetts, satin slippers probably won't be any more practical for outside. You could wear sneakers outside and then change lol. I would probably just focus on what I'm wearing inside.

I'm getting married in the winter outside in mountains of NJ. I want to find some really lovely flat half boots, and then some flats for the wedding. My FH is a good 4-6 inches taller, but I still wanna feel "petite" on my wedding day (at 5'8", and 170lbs, I've never been "petite" IN MY LIFE!)
