Anyone send Save the Dates via email?

I sent a save the date email with a link to our wedding website. I don't think it registered for a lot of people though. Paper mailings might have been better, but I wasn't really concerned about a save-the-date in the first place - our wedding is only a couple hours away. Maybe just send your invitations a little earlier as a compromise?

My best friend who is getting married this summer sent out her save the dates through an e-card service (I forget which one).

I thought it was great. She said that she communicates with most of her guests through e-mail anyways. I also find it helpful because I just keep that saved in my inbox and I won't forget the date now.

I used our proposal video with SAVE THE DATE at the end and linked it to everyone

I did ours through evite.

I did paperlesspost too, it worked out great. Less hassle that way, less money that way.

Seems to be a good option, I might try on at least my immediate family and see what kind of response I get from them before I send to everyone else. Thanks guys!

mizangi - I will send our invites early then norm but think sending something in advance would help guest plan since our date is in the middle of the week and most live at least 7-8 hours away. If they come they will have to make a vacation out of it.

Yes, you can track if they've opened, they can even respond to you and you can even add a memo. It's pretty well done.

We just made our own save-the-date, saved as a jpeg, and embedded into an email message with a link directly to our website. A little under half of the people acknowledged it, and only one person's email rejected it b/c they thought it was a virus. I liked the idea of email, b/c ppl would be right on a computer and could look at our website while they're thinking about it.

We did our paperless and it was perfect...saved money and hassles which we weren't going to worry about that's why we did email

I loved using Paperless Post (PP) for cheap-o save the dates that look beautiful! We made a video slideshow save-the-date using MS MovieMaker (it's free) and pictures of ourselves growing up and sent it via PP. We're having a bicycle-themed wedding and went with this design, which costs less than $0.25 an invitation: Paperless Post Save the Date Example. I also loved that PP allows you to fix typos after the fact, too.

It took time to scan pictures, but I'm happy to have more room in the budget for fun stuff! Surprisingly, we only had about three guests out of 150 without emails. We've had 96% open the save-the-date within the first few weeks (the website tracks this for you on an email-by-email basis and also sends weekly reminders to the non-openers). I was hoping more people would also leave their addresses via PP for the real invitations, but only about 10% got that far. Another benefit of PP is that the save-the-dates include links to add the wedding to Google, Outlook, Apple and Yahoo calendars.

With PP I like the fact that I can order actual invites for those in my family that are not that computer savvy.

We did email and facebook. Only one (old fashioned) guest complained. Everyone else said it was so easy and they loved it. It's easier to add pics and video to an email than paper mail too.

Yes you can track it, loved that option so I knew who had seen it and who we needed to touch base with through another method.

I have been playing with this all evening on both sites and seeing how it will turn out. Pretty cool so far!
