Anyone else getting married on Mothers Day? Or Ideas for honoring mothers there

Kayla, on August 16, 2016 at 2:31 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Hi!

I was curious if there were any other brides or grooms getting married on Mother's Day?

I am because of the Jewish Holiday Calendar you have to get married on a Sunday(because of Shabbat) and there are certain times you can't marry which severely limited my dates to get married in the early summer/late spring.

Anyways, what are you thinking about doing to honor the mothers at your wedding?

I was thinking about having my younger cousins( I wanted them to have some sort of role) handing out roses or flowers to everyone whose a mother at some point during the reception. What do you ladies think of that idea?

That's sweet. We wanted to get married on the 5/13/17 but then almost forgot it was Mother's Day weekend and didn't know how to deal if no one was there because they were out of town for the occasion.

We always have weddings on mothers day. I usually do thank yous for the couple's moms, but we expand that to include all the moms.

My family is spread all over the country so we thought it would be a nice touch that my grandmas get to spend Mother's Day with all their children and grandchildren for the first time ever.

Also, it's a Jewish holiday called Lag B'Omer which is supposed to be a day full of celebration which is a perfect day to have a wedding

My cousin got married last Mother's Day. They didn't do anything special for the moms. I don't think it's expected but it would be a really nice gesture to hand out flowers to the mothers.

My cousin got married on mothers day and they handed out roses to all of the moms. I think it's kind of nice because the whole family will most likely be able to get together and see each other. So no one should miss out on seeing their mom.

The roses are a great idea! You can also have all the moms and their children/grandchildren have a dance together. You can use a really sweet mother song or something.

Just be aware I think that flower prices may go up around that time? Depending on what you choose of course - but I almost got married Mother's Day weekend this year and my sister (who had also gotten married Mother's Day weekend the year she got married) pointed that out to me.

I am getting married next Mother's day. It was a complete accident. When I realized, I told my friends and mom I'd be providing them with an open bar to celebrate.

I don't really want to do anything sappy because my mom is fine but she's not a gushy mushy my best friend thank her for making me everything kind of mother. My FH's mom was kind of pleased with the idea of the wedding being on mother's day in general, but I think the sheer family-reunion-y aspect of gathering aunts and uncles and cousins and the one remaining grandma is sufficient. Also, it's an evening wedding so folks can still do brunch stuff or whatever they want with families in the morning.
