I have seen hydrangeas in bouquets plenty of times. But I think I heard they wilt easily...

I've been in plenty of weddings where hydrangea was used, but they are a very delicate flower they also don't hold up well to the beating they get from the moment the florist drops them off to the time they get to the reception (think about it, they are constantly being handled for photos and put back down again) and can go limp an wilt if they aren't put into water whenever they aren't being used.

They usually hold up alot better if there can be containers of water around to put them back in for those photos they aren't being used in or on the drive around for photos, things like that. But thats not exactly a feasible thing to do

Florist #1 had the BM bouquets with blue hydrangeas since I told her just do seasonal.

Luckily, 2 more florists to go. Somebody do this part for me..ugh.

Eek...I'm going to my FIFTH tomorrow, have another one Monday and one more appointment I have to make! But the first two really don't count...they were super high end and had no idea what I was looking for. I'm educating myself more with each one!

This is so strange to me! I went to one florist (she came highly recommended by every nurse in the the L&D unit I worked in) and the appointment lasted 30 minutes, I was in love, and that was that. I couldn't imagine doing all this running around, interviewing people! Trying to find the venue was hard enough. Whew

They don't go in bouquets because they die so quick. In a centerpiece they are fine because no one is touching them, but the body heat of your BM will cause them to wilt.

However, lots of people do it anyway.

Florist #2 was more on the high end and you can see it in the work and options she had..too many options. I had an easier time finding my dress.

When she pulled out the flower cards and asked me what i wanted..blank stare.

Instead of open-ended requests for quotes, just tell them your budget and what needs to be included (number of bouquets, centerpieces, corsages, boutonnieres, etc.) and your color scheme. Let the florist figure out what flowers will fit your budget.

Agree with @Nancy T. I walked in and said my budget is xyz, what can you give me?

I was a BM for my FBIL's wedding a few years ago & we had hydrangeas for our bouquets. It's not something I would recommend. The ceremony started at noon & the flowers were already starting to wilt.
