Affordable venues within a 45 minute drive from downtown Chicago, anyone??

Jami, on March 14, 2017 at 4:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Hello ladies, just looking for some venue ideas that could double as ceremony and reception space for 175 guests in March 2018, open bar and catering included for 10k. Thanks!

That's a pretty tall order for that many guests in Chicago including an open bar. You'll probably need to cut your guest list.

    1) That is what the vendor tab is for

    2) No way you find 10k for 175 guests in the Chicago suburbs

Very unlikely OP even an hour outside of the city. If you cut the list in half I have a few recommendations for you

Some of your best bets are going to be in Lake County north of the city. Try the Doubletree Libertyville-Mundelein, NOAH's Event Venue Lincolnshire or Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake. But, yes you may have to work some magic with your numbers. Best wishes!

Cut your guest list in half or push the wedding back and double the budget are your best options.

It wont be less than 10k, but cog hill is p reasonable. Also look into separate venues and affordable caterers

Wow, that is a tall order. I went to college in the suburbs of Chicago back in the 90's and that general area is expensive. I just don't see how $10,000 is going to be enough for catering and food for 175 people. You should do a little research first to see in general how much these things cost in your area so you know if your budget is realistic. For instance, here in the Sacramento area, the per person quote would be anywhere from $100-200 for food and open bar, plus venue fees on top of that.

The historical train station in Joliet I remember being on the lower end price wise and is all inclusive though I still don't think $10k is enough for that many people. The interior is huge and beautiful and pricing is probably lower for off season like march. Good luck but you will definitely need to cut guest list or increase budget

If you're willing to travel, I'm from the suburbs of Chicago, and we found a wonderful venue for 200 people for about 7k. But frankly, if you're looking to stay close to the city, good luck to you. It is expensive.

You can check with Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora. I'm not sure about their large banquet hall, but their small banquet hall that holds 130 guests fits within your criteria and is adjacent to the Aurora Metra Station.

My first wedding was at the Diplomat West in Elmhurst. Absolutely loved it and they were wonderful. It's a little more than you might be looking at (we did 150 people for I think 11-12k) but depending on time of day and what you offer foodwise you might be able to pull it off.

Chateau Busche will not meet OPs budget. I got married there 10 years ago and I was near 50k, I had more than 175 but I'm certain OP won't be close

Good luck OP, you will either have to cut your guest list or up your budget. I say cut lol

@Laurel gave great choices. If you are looking in the city will be so much more expensive. Are you open to Northwest Indiana because you could make it work that the amount of people and budget.

Georgios banquets in Orland park, Tuscany falls in Mokena, and any country club in the tinley park, Orland park, oak lawn, lemont, palos hills areas could possibly accommodate that

I'm about a half hour from down town. We are paying $85 pp with catering and open bar. You need to rethink that budget.

Try IL State Beach Resort in Zion. You will likely come in a bit over budget and I think it os more than 45 mins from the city but Kim Hall is really flexible.and will walk you through all your options. She has been great so far.
